Born in the Philippines and raised in France, Martin's academic journey led him to Boston College, Mansfield College - University of Oxford, and the École des Hautes Études en Sciences Sociales (EHESS), where he studied under the novelist Milan Kundera. It was there that Martin’s passion for cinema was ignited.
A turning point in his career came in 2016 when Martin's fascination with the life and work of Juan Luna, the renowned 19th-century Filipino painter who also made France his home, inspired him to author several press articles, contribute to an anthology, and produce a documentary in partnership with the Ayala Museum in the Philippines.
