Before she began working in television, Armstrong studied film history, screenwriting, and documentary filmmaking in New York City. High Woods has been a passion project, tended to on nights and weekends, since 2015. She lives in Brooklyn.
Horror, to me, is the most genuine of genres — and I've always been inspired by horror films that urged me to think outside the terror. With High Woods, I wanted to explore a different kind of haunted house story, told through a feminist lens.
