The Hero That Here Lies
We often hear of children 'coming out' to their parents. What if it were reversed? What if the father came out to the daughter? How would this impact her life? Her school? Her friends? The relationship with her father?
Alyssa must find the strength within herself and from the support of her friends to move into the next phase of her life.

Pictured with cinematographer Eric Hengge (background), Danny's career in entertainment began in the fifth grade when he performed magic in the school talent show.
Fast forward to high school where he took to the technical side of theatre and learned to design lights, sound, and scenery, Danny's love of theatre led to a career with The Walt Disney Company in roles that included on-stage performance, Marketing, and video production. He joined the ranks of theatre educators in 1997 and is currently in his 19th year teaching. He currently serves as the Fine Arts Department Chair and teaches Drama, Film, and TV Production.
Having directed well over 100 plays and musicals, Danny is now an award-winning playwright and new filmmaker.
This film pays tribute to the parents who do what they must to protect their children, even if it means hiding their gender identity. Based on an actual event, all of us involved with HERO hope you will consider this very meaningful project for your festival.
