The Haunted Cape Film Festival is a horror and suspense short film contest put on by Cape Hatteras Secondary School. For our second annual festival, we are expanding countywide, to all students and staff of Dare County middle and high schools. The films will be judged and premiered at CHSS in late October. In the spirit of Halloween, we welcome the thrilling, chilling and utterly terrifying!

Awards will be given for the following categories:

Best Picture - High School
Best Picture - Middle School
Best Picture - Staff
Best Lead Acting
Best Supporting Acting
Best Cinematography
Best Editing

Those attending the screenings will get to vote for the Audience Favorite

Films must be 1-2 minutes long including credits. Longer submissions will not be accepted.

Horror/Thriller/Suspense genres only.

Open to Dare County middle school and high school students and staff. Also open to home-schooled students in Dare County, grades 6-12.

Please submit to the appropriate category.

No profanity. Age-appropriate material only.

Must include a title and credits listing all those associated with the film as well as sources for any music or sound effects.

Please remember that films do not necessarily have to be blood and gore. Suspense and thrillers are highly welcomed.
