Born in Taiwan, raised in New Jersey, Chiahao Chou is a self-taught writer/director. After receiving a Bachelor of Science in finance from Fordham University, and establishing a career within the industry, he decided to pursue his true passion of filmmaking. His first two short films, “Man of God” and "Affection", have screened at several noteworthy festivals. (Soho Int'l Film Festival, Williamsburg Int'l Film Festival, New York No Limits, etc.) His latest effort, “Godspeed”, is currently up for consideration at premier festivals around the world.
I once believed the idea that following a "nontraditional" route as being taboo was particularly pronounced within the Asian American community. The pressure of not failing seemed to permeate the culture. However, as this production developed, it became more apparent how universal this feeling was. It was comforting to discover how crew members of different backgrounds could all relate. “Godspeed” is meant to explore the challenges of pursuing a passion and how polarizing it can be.
