Generation '68
With his film Generation ‘68, the author makes a homage to the generation with which he shares his youthful enthusiasm and the idea about a revolution that will change the world, while being "realistic and demanding the impossible". At the same time he questions the true impact of these changes on social and – probably more important – private level. Having ideas is easy; making them look credible to the generations that follow is somewhat more difficult. By rejecting the ideals of the 1968 as unworkable, the new generations are coming up with some of their own, maybe even more unrealistic ones…

Nenad Puhovski has made more than 250 theatrical, film and TV productions. He has also produced more than 60 documentary films. He is the founder of the independent documentary production company FACTUM and ZagrebDox documentary film festival.
More than 45 years have passed since the student rebellion in 1968, the events that not only had a formative impact on an entire generation, but also more or less directly influenced the events in the upcoming decades. Nevertheless, not a single documentary or live action film had been made in Croatia to portray these events in any light.
The generation of people who were our teachers and professors and who left a trace on our mindset is either gone or completely passive. We, our generation, often called the sixty-eighters, the generation of ‘sex, drugs and rock and roll’, have lived through two ‘revolutions’, one bloody war, political, economic and social changes, transition, tycoonisation and many other things.
Today, in our so-called ‘golden age’, we wonder – what did we learn (if anything), who tricked us, what do we bequeath to our children? Were we blinded, naïve, utopian… or our hand was dealt just the way it had to be?
And finally, what is our fault?
This film, quite certainly, gives no answers. However, I hope that it calls to mind certain questions.
