Fumacinha: cave of the red waters
Fumacinha is the name of a hundred-meter magnitude waterfall - absurdly shaped by nature inside a cave at Chapada Diamantina National Park, in Brazil.
This short - entirely filmed by drone by Paulo T G Pinto, with minimum crew size - invites one to immerse into a sensitive geological and biological landscape that mixes stone, Cerrado vegetation and pure red-colored waters from Una river.
Original minimalist composition by Giovanni Iasi gives poetic sense to the discovery - through non-human gazes - of this rocky wonder.

Paulo T G Pinto does research-creation with drones as part of his Master of Arts degree in Cinema at Universidade Federal de Juiz de Fora (Brazil), partially carried out at Université de Montréal (Canada) and at Université Sorbonne Nouvelle Paris 3 (France).
First studying UAVs during a 5-year-degree in Control and Automation Engineering, Paulo had some of his all-drone shorts selected and/or awarded in Australia, Germany, Hungary, Romania, UK, USA and Brazil festivals.
He is the founder and director of NO AR Drone Film Fest Brazil, the first drone cinematography competition to take place in Latin America - with films from over 30 countries in its three annual editions, a ceremony at Palácio das Artes and a jury composed of award-winning media professionals and scholars.
"Fumacinha: cave of the red waters" is the result of a two year creation process, in line with the authors’ research of Godfrey Reggio and Philip Glass partnerships in cinema - notably the Qatsi trilogy -, which was concluded with in studio soundtrack recording.
