From the Sea

Two different journeys on opposite sides of the world, merged through a common passion for documentary filmmaking and storytelling, creating a unified visual story about defying comfort in search for new horizons.

It was on the beaches of Peru and New Zealand, almost simultaneously, that two different people felt the need to challenge the familiarity of the sea and embark on a trip into the unknown of the mountains. A subtle perception that there was much more to see inspired them to move away from the coast and ascend to the high altitudes of the Andes and the Himalayas.

From the Sea explores both the beauty and the dread of leaving what’s comfortable and reaching for what’s unexpected, using the transition from the sea to the mountain as a metaphor for leaving your nest and putting yourself through different circumstances, only to realise that everywhere can feel like home. The feelings that such a move evoked were both of nostalgia and freedom, changing their perceptions about “comfort” forever.
