Richard’s films have a strong punk ethos. Provocative, uncompromising and driven by a DIY attitude, his early work was praised for its experimentation and New Media aesthetic, particularly Violent Blue Light Ghosts (2004) that screened internationally. Richard was a finalist in the Qantas Spirit of Youth Awards 3 years running 2005-07 for his filmmaking which led to his work being featured in the ABC documentary series Noise on Screen.
His surreal nightmare short Happy In Our Grave. Ten Years Deep (2006) won the Australian Animation Award at the inaugural Sydney Underground Film Festival 2007. He has won both a WA Music Industry Award (blac blocs – NVDA, 2010) and a WA Screen Award (The Devil Rides Out – Burn Again, 2014) for his music videos.
When Richard isn’t trying to tear down the system he can be found trying to survive it as a freelance editor and motion graphics designer.
