Director Statement

Michele, Nancy and I are first-time filmmakers who’ve been collaborating in the theatre world for years. We share a passion for stories that surprise, entertain, and reflect the human condition – in all its absurdity, hilarity and tragedy.

With a budget of $1500 and collaborators to whom we are eternally indebted, we made FIND SOME LOVE.

Looking to the future, we want to generate new work for film, television and theatre with an emphasis on the female protagonist – because, simply stated, there aren’t enough of them out there. Based in New York City, we are always looking for new artists who share our sensibilities.

Melissa Attebery (Director/Producer) started in LA in television production and development at Viacom Productions, Paramount Pictures Network Television, and Granada Entertainment USA. She moved to NY, developing and staging original works at such places as Primary Stages, The Abingdon, Queens Theatre in the Park and FringeNYC. She assistant-directed for Tina Howe at the 24 HOUR PLAYS on Broadway; she produced A CELEBRATION OF WOMEN IN THEATRE: MISS REPRESENTATION, a rousing evening of film, theatre, photography and discussion. BA, Dramatic Art/Film Studies, UCSB; MFA, Directing, Actors Studio Drama School. Member, The Actors Studio Playwright/Director Workshop; Associate Member, SDC; Associate Artistic Director, Emerging Artists Theatre; Co-Producer, ON HER SHOULDERS, revealing the long, rich tradition of plays written by women.

Michele Aldin Kushner (Writer/Producer) grew up in New York City, and currently lives in New Jersey. She received an Alfred P. Sloan Award for her screenplay, 11MONTHS. Her play, THE TEXT OF SEX, premiered in FringeNYC 2014 and will be published by Adirondack Plays Spring 2016. Her play, THE BABY GAME, was the winner of the Fulton Theatre’s 2012 Discovery Project New Play Contest. Her play, ADVANCED WOMEN, was the 2009 recipient of the Todd McNerney Playwriting Award, took part in the 2010 Piccolo Spoleto Festival and The Great Plains Theatre Conference Playlabs 2010. Other plays have been at FringeNYC and around the country.

Nancy Nagrant (Lead Actor/Producer) is a film, television & stage actress and producer. She's originally from Detroit, Michigan, and currently resides in Brooklyn, NY. Big-screen credits include: Steven Soderbergh’s Side Effects, and Ken Scott’s Delivery Man with Vince Vaughn. Small-screen credits include: House of Cards with Kevin Spacey, Law & Order: SVU with Mariska Hargitay, Hostages on CBS, and Roland Emmerich’s pilot Dark Horse.
