The Love Horror Short Film Festival is the sister festival to The Sacramento Horror Film Festival.

The Love Horror Short Film Festival began as a celebration of performance art and past successful short film selections from previous seasons of the Sacramento Horror Film Festival.

Now, The Love Horror Short Film Festival is accepting NEW entries into programming for the 2025 event to be held in January.

The 11th Annual Love Horror Short Film Festival takes place 2025 at the Historic Colonial Theatre in Sacramento California.

The Love Horror Short Film Festival is part film festival and part horror inspired review and variety show. From circus performances, burlesque, standup comedy, live music, and slam poetry, the Love Horror Short Film Festival is an all arts encompassing event that celebrates love and adoration of the horror genre.

Online entries ONLY. Student film discounts have been suspended due to abuse. Do not mail in your films. Films *MUST* be no longer than 20 minutes including credits. If your film is a few seconds over it may qualify to be in the festival but it will be disqualified from competition. Films must be HORROR or THRILLER genre. Genres such as music videos, documentaries, animated films, experimental films, are all ok! Final screening format must be HD MP4 or HD .MOV. Full film files, please! Do not send us two giant film files and expect us to edit/splice them together. Films must be made after 2017. Accepted filmmakers will receive 2 comp passes to the event with an RSVP. With acceptance, you give the Love Horror Short Film Festival & The Sacramento Horror Film Festival to utilize portions of your film for promotion. If selected, you must respond to your acceptance email letter within 7 days of the email's sent date along with sending your screening file. Your final screening film file must be received by the deadline indicated in the acceptance letter email.

    Had so much fun at this festival and was honored to have my short shown here - the theatre was large and perfect for this type of event, and I really loved the variety of showing short films for the first half of the night then including spoken word, burlesque, and other variety performers in the second half. A great one-night event for horror lovers!
