Girl Winter is a North American ski and snowboard film tour showcasing femme-forward and gender-nonconforming films. With 33 stops and counting, Girl Winter is building community across the country, shifting the narrative of ski & snowboard films seen on the big screen each fall and including new voices in the stories we consume.

Back for its third year, Girl Winter Film Tour screenings provide space to continue celebrating women in snow sports. All are welcome to attend!

✷ Why "Girl Winter"? ✷

Ever heard of “Girl Dinner”? Filled with yummy small bites and your favorite snacks, we wanted this film tour to reflect the dinners we love so much – short films with range.

These stories will fill you up with rad skiing, deep storytelling, and good humor – just like your favorite mix of food for “girl dinner.”

Audience Choice Award

Submission Criteria:

✷ We accept short films up to 20 minutes in length.

✷ Films should focus on winter storytelling (cuz, y'know, Girl Winter). We're looking for winter-focused films with an empowered female or gender-nonconforming lead that inspire our sense of adventure, connection to the natural world, and desire to dig deeper.

✷ Films must NOT be available for viewing online before November 15, 2026

✷ We pay filmmakers a licensing fee for films selected for the tour. This fee is calculated based on run time.

✷ We love building community, so we invite filmmakers and the protagonists of their films to select events where they can join us on stage.

✷ We accept films featuring a female or gender-nonconforming subject as the lead. This includes women, trans women and men, and genderqueer or non-binary subjects. We happily accept submissions of films directed and produced by non-female individuals, so long as the lead character is female or gender non-conforming!
