World International Film Festival funding film production

Finding funding for all aspects of film production can be very difficult even for famous and well connected filmmakers. These problems are felt even harder by small, independent productions who often struggle with a lack of budget for many aspects of filming, producing and dispensing a film to audiences. At the World International Film Festival there are multiple sectors available online all year - which can help independent individuals or organisations working in film access funding designed for the various different aspects of making a movie.

Of course without the production of the film itself this would not be necessary so an investor's sector has been established at the World International Film Festival. The goal of this is to help navigate the first obstacle of getting a film made which is finding the initial funding to hire and rent everything needing to create a movie. Film festivals such as this are about giving talented individuals exposure and recognition for their work. The investors sector will help these creative people connect with others who share their passion for their work who have the ability to finance interesting projects that are yet to be made.
Searching for financing to make a film can be extraordinarily difficult but with the goal of increasing contact between filmmakers and investors the sector is hoping to make it much easier. The ‘Marketing sector’ has been set up so that directors and other independent film enthusiasts can obtain funds that wouldn’t otherwise be available to them in order to advertise for their film to increase its exposure. The aim of festivals is to help new talent emerging in the world of cinema, but without proper marketing this is extremely difficult and the goal of this sector is to find small films an avenue to send their work into the world with a much wider audience.

The third sector which is also available online all throughout the year - focuses on ‘Film Distribution’ and helps to create a more comprehensive network of connections between the festival’s creative filmmakers and those with the money to finance their distribution. Like marketing it is vital that small films can receive money to distribute their product effectively so that it may reach and connect with a greater number of people. Doing this will help everyone involved: from the filmmaker who can go on to receive more recognition for their work to the distributer who gets to expand their network of filmmakers and this could be a great resources for filmmakers to increase the stature of their work.

  • Bad communication and bad selection process. Our short film was accepted but since then we have received no word on our acceptance, no laurel and generally no informtion regarding our selection what so ever. These festival entrie aren't cheap and festival organizers should acknowledge this. Poor!

    Response from festival:

Here's how our system works: After a film is accepted, there is a notification letter sent from FilmFreeway. Once it comes, the filmmaker is expected to respond to the festival. If there is no response or letter from the filmmaker, we attempt to send the response manually, two or three more times. If there is still no response, then we can do nothing with the film... Your film was pre-selected at the last moment, after the schedule of the festival was completed and confirmed -- as we see from the history. We were glad to grant you some fee waiver codes for our next festivals, which are coming in December 2016 and January 2017. Our Festival's Support Service is working 24 hours a day, including Saturdays and Sundays. Thirty-five international operators are receiving about 1,000 letters from filmmakers per day, or about 100 new film submissions per day. We respond to every letter we get within the next 24 to 72 hours, and we're usually on the quicker side, depending on the question. If you would like to test our communication, please write us, as we are open to anyone to contact us: worldinternationalfilmfestival@gmail.com
If you were not responding and were just waiting for the festival to contact you -- we did attempt to, repeatedly. We're sorry you didn't reply at the time.

An excellent, well-organised world film festival with a personal touch. I'm thrilled to have had my film "The Fischer Enquiry" screened at The Crest and to have won the Best Independent Film award. I highly recommend this film festival, whether you're entering your own film or going along as part of the audience. This is a great platform with huge potential. Best wishes to all.

  • We are honored to accept the award for BEST ARTISTIC CONTRIBUTION OVERALL GRAND JURY WINNER at the Los Angeles World International Film Festival 2016. We were thrilled just to be a part of this incredible festival that reaches beyond international borders, and winning this award made it that much more special. This festival appeals to exactly the type of eclectic, intelligent, thoughtful movie-lover we wanted to reach with our film, and we couldn’t have been happier to be included among a diverse collection of amazing films. As a bonus, we got to premiere our film in the Crest Westwood Theatre—a jewel of a venue. This has been an amazing experience, and we are so honored to have been a part of this festival. Thank you!
