International Film Forum of Female Directors

The Public Foundation "Fund of Art Females of Asia" has been organizing the International Film Forum of Female Directors since 2016. Over the years, more than 100 emerging women directors from Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan and Tajikistan have taken part in the forum, presenting their films, engaging in dialogue, and learning through masterclasses led by prominent female filmmakers and festival directors from Central Asia.

In recent years, the International Film Forum of Female Directors has grown to become one of the most recognized and influential film forums in Central Asia dedicated to celebrating and empowering female voices in cinema.

In 2024, we successfully organized an animation workshop for female filmmakers, resulting in a collaborative short animated film. This film has already been selected for an upcoming international screening at a FANTOCHE 23rd International animation film festival in Baden, Switzerland - a proud moment that underlines the impact and reach of our film forum.

This year, the VIII forum will take place in Osh, the southern cultural city of Kyrgyzstan, where traditional heritage meets the dynamics of urban transformation.

We are accepting submissions from female directors based in Central Asian countries: Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan and Turkmenistan

As part of our ongoing commitment to supporting emerging talents, the forum will also feature seminars and masterclasses conducted by leading women professionals from the film industry across the region.

Selected filmmakers will be invited to participate in the forum, with travel and accommodation expenses partially covered (or fully covered, depending on available funding).
