Established in 2015, AGBU Arts’ Armenians in Film at Lincoln Center is an annual, international event that unites talented Armenian filmmakers from all over the globe to audiences at Film at Lincoln Center. Over the past ten years, fifty-four short films have been screened, featuring filmmakers from the USA, Canada, France, Brazil, the United Kingdom, Bulgaria, Armenia, and more.
These talented artists are graduates of prestigious film schools, such as NYU Tisch School of the Arts, Columbia University, and UCLA, and have screened their films at legendary festivals such as the Cannes Film Festival, Toronto International Film Festival, and the Sundance Film Festival. Each screening is followed by a Q&A session with the filmmakers, moderated by a renowned film industry professional.
AGBU Arts has also toured the program internationally, hosting screenings at the Curzon Victoria Theater and Curzon Bloomsbury in London, CaixaForum in Barcelona, Reserva Cultural in São Paulo, The Concourse in Sydney, Frankston Arts Centre in Melbourne, as well as our AGBU Vatche and Tamar Manoukian Performing Arts Center in Pasadena, California.
AGBU Arts has become a driving force for developing and showcasing Armenian artists while treating audiences to experiences that reveal the transcendent human spirit in an Armenian context. Central to AGBU Arts’ mission is introducing Armenian culture and traditions to audiences worldwide. Together with global AGBU Chapters, AGBU Arts organizes performance and exhibition opportunities to support and increase exposure to Armenian creatives, collaborating with institutions such as the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA), Centre Pompidou, the MET Museum, the British Film Institute, and countless others.
Awarded filmmakers will have their works screened at Film at Lincoln Center, where they will be able to participate either virtually or in-person Q&A session with an industry professional. (Travel and accommodations are not provided for in-person participation in the Q&A.)
Armenians in Film has also toured internationally, with winners screened in New York also invited to have their works screened at world-renowned theaters and cultural institutions alongside global AGBU Chapters.
This event has previously been held at the Curzon Victoria and Curzon Bloomsbury Theaters in London, CaixaForum in Spain, Salle Cortot in France, Nuovo Armenia in Italy, Reserva Cultural in Brazil, as well as The Concourse and Frankston Arts Centre in Australia.
