ABOUT AIFF
The fourth Adelaide Independent Film Festival (AIFF) will return to the Capri Theatre and The Mercury between 3-4 October 2026.

The AIFF is an annual celebration of short films proudly presented in two beloved South Australian cinemas.

Held in October, the AIFF showcases a collection of diverse and complex stories from around the world, providing South Australian audiences with a window into the lives of people from both well-known and lesser-known countries.

Our official programme consists of national and international short films from independent filmmakers willing to test the boundaries of cinema and thrive in the realm of uncertainty.

The AIFF attracts filmmakers from across Australia, including Melbourne, Sydney, and Brisbane, to the festival each year. Previous short films featured at the festival have premiered at the Melbourne International Film Festival, the Sydney Film Festival, and the BFI London Film Festival, among other prestigious film festivals. The AIFF also features films from renowned film schools, including the Australian Film Television and Radio School (AFTRS).

The team at the AIFF are building a reputation for melding an eclectic programme with a vibrant atmosphere in a space that craves quality cinema.

We encourage all national and international filmmakers to submit their short films for consideration.

If you have any questions, please reach out to us. We are more than happy to assist.

We look forward to watching your work.

While I wasn’t able to attend the festival in person with Hearts of Stone, Tom Kerby and his team kept me updated throughout the process. They featured our film prominently across their social media channels and even included a short interview on their website. The screening venues looked fantastic and the audiences seemed enthusiastic — I’m sorry to have missed the in-person experience, but the festival left a wonderful impression nonetheless. I’d love to return one day with another film.

What a wonderful festival, that does an incredible job celebrating independent film. The communication and promotion leading up to the festival was superb, with trailers and interviews to celebrate the program. It was great to take part in a filmmaker Q&A and have the opportunity to meet lots of other filmmakers at the festival.
It's hard to believe this festival is only in it's 3rd year - definitely one to watch! Thanks for having our film as part of the festival in 2025!
