WELCOME TO THE MILAN SHORTS FILM FESTIVAL
MSFF! The most finest event in Italy dedicated to short stories, taking place in Milan on SEPTEMBER 25–26–27, 2026.
TRADITION AND INNOVATION: ALL IN ONE PLACE
MSFF offers filmmakers the opportunity to gain visibility and to connect with the audience through screenings at the historic Anteo Palazzo del Cinema, right in the heart of Milan. Here, authors from all over the world have the chance to present their work, meet fellow artists and share new ideas.
THE MISSION WITH FUORICINEMA
The festival is enriched by the consolidated collaboration with Fuoricinema, a cultural marathon made of daytime talks and evening screenings. Over the years Fuoricinema has hosted leading figures of Italian cinema such as Matteo Garrone, Marco Bellocchio, Paolo Sorrentino, Alessandro Borghi, Gabriele Salvatores, Micaela Ramazzotti, Antonio Albanese, Silvio Soldini, Diego Abatantuono, Paola Cortellesi, Paolo Virzì, Roberto Vecchioni, Fiorella Mannoia, Gianni Canova, Lella Costa, Margherita Buy and many others. Within this framework, Milan Shorts connects its emerging and independent filmmakers with established names of Italian cinema, fostering dialogue between new voices and well-known artists.
ACTIVITIES TAILORED ON YOU
The program evolves every year according to themes and guests, while keeping a clear structure. ACTIVE PANELS explore current issues related to cinema and society. EDUCATIONAL PANELS involve Italian and international experts. The MEET BRIDGE creates space for direct conversation between young filmmakers and industry professionals. ROUNDTABLES bring together directors, actors and producers of the competing short films. Fuoricinema completes the schedule with exclusive screenings of the best Italian films presented at the Venice Biennale and with encounters featuring some of the most important personalities in cinema and culture.
YOUR BRIDGE TO REACH NEW PEOPLE & INDUSTRY PROFESSIONALS
The festival also features a networking area and a small market, designed to encourage meetings between filmmakers, artists and professionals. Within this context, a pitch event gives young authors the opportunity to present projects and ideas to industry experts.
A BIG COMMUNITY
Beyond the competition, the festival identifies itself as an inclusive space, aiming to create a community of artists united by their passion for cinema. Throughout the year, new opportunities and calls are published on our channels. Follow us on Instagram (@milanshortsfilmfestival) and be part of it. Don’t forget to follow Fuoricinema (@fuoricinema) as well!
A GROUNDBREAKING FESTIVAL
Milan Shorts highlights not only the officially selected films. During the year, some of the submitted projects are promoted through trailers, interviews and dedicated content on our channels. The festival is committed to supporting authors concretely, also through partnerships that provide discounts and advantages to participants.
A SPECIAL SECTION CALLED... CIP!
Cinema Indie People (CIP) is a parallel section that selects and promotes independent short films from around the world. Its goal is to connect different scales of production, budgets and visions, and to give visibility to new ideas and voices. The winners of CIP are screened out of competition at the Anteo Palazzo del Cinema, alongside the official MSFF selections.

The Milan Shorts Board and the Fuoricinema Board will decide the selection. The Jury, composed of 8 national and international artists, and headed by the artistic director, will decide the winning projects. AWARDS
The Best Short Film winner will receive the 'Meneghino d'Oro' Award. The Best NextGen Short Film winner will receive the 'Meneghino d'Argento' Award.
