The LMC Social Justice Student Film Fest is an annual event held in the Spring that showcases documentaries created by students in Advanced Video Production and Global Documentary Theory and Practice. Both courses introduce students to the art of documentary filmmaking and explore the ways in which documentary filmmaking can serve as a catalyst for articulating social justice issues that prompt audiences to take action.

LMCSJFF jury awards films in the following categories:

Note: The jury selects the film that is selected for the LMC Truth to Power award, and the audience will select the People's Choice award.

ELIGIBILITY: To be eligible for consideration:


1. You must fully comply with these Entry Rules & Regulations, including all deadlines, film length, entry material, and other requirements.


2. Non-English language works must have English subtitles at the time submitted. Dialogue lists will not be accepted.

3. All films must be the original work of the filmmakers and all filmmakers must have the necessary rights.

4. The festival reserves the right to change the programming without notice.

5. We only accept short films under 15 minutes

6. We only accept films made after 2021
