The HaHaArt Film Festival competition admits short comedy films with a maximum running time of 40 minutes and feature-length comedy films with a minimum duration of 60 minutes, released between 2024 and 2026.
The films will be selected to participate in the following categories:
- Feature Films;
- International Short Films;
- National Short Films.
The Feature Films Competition is dependent on the quantity and quality of the films submitted, with a minimum requirement of four films that fulfill the criteria.
The National Competition is dependent on the number of Portuguese films in the official selection, with the requirement of at least 5 different films for the category to be considered.
The competitions accept films in any language as long as they are subtitled in either English or Portuguese at the moment of their submission.
The competitions do not accept works connected to the members of the organisation or to the members of the jury.
Each director/producer may submit up to three films to the competition.
The submitted works can be filmed in any format. They should, however, be submitted in a digital format as close as possible to a final version for film screening. The accepted formats are: 2K Native (2048 x 1080), 2K Flat (1998 x 1080), and Full HD (1920 x 1080). These files must be compressed in codec H264 (mov / mp4), with AAC audio, with a maximum file size of 15gb.
Submissions in DCP (Digital Cinema Package) format are accepted as well. The conditions of these submissions must be discussed with the festival organisation through geral@hahaartfilmfestival.pt or info@cineclubepombal.pt.
The official selection will be composed of 25 short films and 5 feature films. The number of this selection can vary according to the quantity and quality of the submitted films.
Submissions to HaHaArt Film Festival will be open until July 12, 2026. The festival does not ensure the viewing and consideration of films received afterwards.
