You must be a UCI student currently enrolled in the 2023-2024 academic year.
Your first and last name is required on the form in order for us to accept your film.
*You must also attach a photo of your UCI ID in your FilmFreeway profile under "Résumé & Attachments" so that your identity can be verified.
An UCI email address is required on the form in case we need to contact you further about your submission.
Your film must:
- have been shot during the 2023-2024 academic year
- be in English or include English subtitles
All award categories must have at least one current UCI student involved to be considered for the award.
(Ex: to be considered for the best performance award, you must have at least one major character be a UCI student; to be considered for best editing, you must have at least one editor be a current UCI student, etc.)
However, the director of the film must be the individual to submit the film. An individual can only submit 2 films for submission. If the director of the film doesn't intend to submit a film, then at least three crew/cast members must sign-off on submitting the film themselves. The individual who submits the film must be a current UCI student.
You need to export your film in one of the following codecs for submission and screening:
- DNxHD 36 or DNxHD 70 (1080p)
- ProRes 422 1080p
- H.264 codec 1080p
The $15 submission fee is required to submit your film. If your film was a ZotFilm, please contact Camille (camilleo@uci.edu) for a coupon code. In your email please have the subject line: ZOTFEST COUPON and include your name, film name, and zotfilm quarter/year.
Films should be no longer than 15 minutes in length (including credits).
*Please keep in mind if you'd like to submit your film to other film festivals after Zotfest, many film festivals make it a rule that you can't have your film available online before or during submissions. FADA doesn't upload Zotfest submissions online without the owners permission.*
