CR8:BLK is hosting its 4th annual CR8:BLK Presents: Black Women Cinema Week (BWCW2023) from November 29-December 2, 2023! This year we want to continue to amplify the voices of Black women artists from around the world in cinema and film. CR8:BLK will be hosting the in-person screenings, workshops, and networking activities for the 4th annual Black Women Cinema Week (BWCW2023) in Charlotte, North Carolina. Locations and full detailed schedule for BWCW will be posted by November 1, 2023. The short film competition of Black Women Cinema Week 2023 will provide an opportunity for audiences to engage with filmmakers and for filmmakers to receive recognition for their work. The CR8:BLK's BWCW 2023 call for submissions is open September 20, 2023 until October 31, 2023.

Awards & Prizes

All films selected will be a part of Black Women Cinema Week 2023 and will screen for an in-person screening in Charlotte, North Carolina and a special online screening through CR8:BLK website. Selected filmmakers will receive award packages and recognition.

Rules & Terms

CR8:BLK Short Film Submission is open from September 20, 2023-October 31, 2023.  Films must be produced, written, directed, or have cinematography done by an independent Black woman filmmaker or artist residing anywhere in the world. Both U.S. based filmmakers and international filmmakers are encouraged to submit. Film submissions have a $15 fee and filmmakers are allowed to submit only ONE film for consideration.
