We are a community of artists and entrepreneurs, athletes and musicians, filmmakers and nature-lovers living and working in Tucker County, West Virginia. Our home is one of ancient mountains and storied rivers, high valleys and boom towns. There’s history here, and rejuvination. Culture. Adventure. Art. Life.

We’re getting plum tuckered just thinking about it!

Be sure to check out our PROMOTIONAL TRAILER featuring clips from some of our films:

We are excited to be an international film festival, a home for creative, independent short film from around the world. But...there’s no doubt – we sprouted in Tucker. One of our primary goals is to shine a spotlight on the films and filmmakers of our area. Whether you live in Tucker County or are connected to the life, adventure and culture of the area in some way, that’s what we’re looking for. We are also seeking to highlight films from the greater Appalachian region in order to showcase the depth of talent and creativity residing within these mountains.

We also welcome films from around the world. The juxtaposition of international film alongside local and regional projects is one of the strongest effects that a film festival can have on its audience. While language barriers may initially seem to accentuate our differences, well-made films have a connecting us to our shared humanity regardless of their country of origin.

In our third year Plum Tuckered will once again celebrate the art of short film. And we mean short! Films must be 20 minutes or less. Even though there are many great short films out there longer than 20 minutes, we appreciate your understanding of this rule. If your film is longer than 20 minutes, we will regretfully not be able to screen it. In this case, less is more!

This year’s film festival screenings will take place at Verglas Media in Davis, West Virginia. Dates November 2, 3 2018. More details coming soon!

We tip our hats to those who choose filmmaking as their art form. The festival jurors will name an overall award in each category. In addition, we will have a special award selection for Appalachia filmmakers in each category. This means 8 awards total!

PLEASE SEE THE RULES & TERMS SECTIONS TO LEARN MORE ABOUT QUALIFYING FOR THE APPALACHIA FILMMAKER AWARDS

Our first two years we proudly presented beautiful hand-made trophies created by Luke Fleishman! He did a spectacular job of capturing an iconic image of our area in metal – The Flagtree. We hope to see the Flagtree return in 2018.

All filmmakers that come to the screening will get an ID badge, poster and a goodie bag chock full of stuff from our sponsors. And of course, good times! Plus, you'll have a chance to meet others in the area who are doing what you do, and those who like watching what you do.

Films must have completed production between January 1, 2016 and September 15, 2018.

All films must have rights to the music used, or be original music.

No commercials please! Unfortunately, films greater than 20 minutes will not be considered.

All films must be submitted through the amazing online service that is FilmFreeway.

We are a digital film festival! One reason we chose FilmFreeway is its inclusion of Vimeo or YouTube for submitting screeners. Please make use of this modern feature, and upload your film in HD quality! If you are selected, we will be requesting a high quality digital version of your film.

Be sure to like our Facebook page to stay in the loop.

Please see categories for submission rates and dates.

I was could not attend the festival in person but really wish I'd been able to. Communication was kind, wonderful and supportive, and the lineup of films very diverse and interesting. Hoping we'll be lucky enough to have another project qualify in the future.
