The Visionfest Screenwriting Competition evolves from what began in August of 2001 as VISIONFEST: THE OTHER FESTIVAL (commonly referred to as VF). The film festival and its affiliated screenwriting competition were founded by the Domani Vision Film Society LLC, an organization dedicated to bringing you tomorrow’s visionaries... today.

Celebrating its 24th annual run, VISIONFEST is seeking screenplays with fresh, original voices, and visionary writing styles. This year, we will be accepting short subject and feature length script submissions under the following guidelines: 3-30 pages for short scripts; 80-130 pages for feature scripts, in all genres, written in English and in Standard Script Format. On December 7, 2024, VISIONFEST will publish a Finalists List on its website and social media forums and winners in the top three slots of each category (feature and short) will be publicly announced on December 14, 2024.

Awards consist of $1000 cash for the winning feature script and $350 cash for the winning short script. Commemorative certificates and sponsored prizes* will be awarded to the winners and to 2nd and 3rd place honorees in both categories. (*InkTip.com is the primary sponsor of VISIONFEST 2024). And new this year, all submitters of the top 3 placing scripts in each category will also receive a complimentary submission fee waiver for their next script submission to Visionfest.

Professional industry readers review all submitted scripts and VISIONFEST will announce up to 15 Finalists in the Feature category and 10 Finalists in the Shorts category by December 7, 2024, which will then move to a final round, judged by the Domani Vision Film Society Jury Panel, who will determine the winning screenplays.

• The winning Feature Screenplay will receive a $1000 cash prize and the winning Short Script will receive a cash prize of $350, along with other sponsored prizes. The 2nd & 3rd place Feature Screenplays and 2 Short Script Honorable Mentions will receive a Commemorative Certificate and a 4-month InkTip Pro Membership. As an InkTip Pro Member, thousands of filmmakers can find and read your scripts, and you'll be able to pitch directly to production companies every week. With over 3,000 options and 400 movies made, InkTip is the place for independent film. And new this year, all submitters of the top 3 placing scripts in each category will also receive a complimentary submission fee waiver for their next script submission to VISIONFEST.

BY ENTERING THE CONTEST YOU ACKNOWLEDGE THAT YOU HAVE READ AND AGREE TO THE FOLLOWING CONDITIONS:

Screenplays must be unproduced scripts, written in English and in Industry Standard Format (feature length 80-130 pages; short form 3-30 pages).

Applicants must be at least 18 years of age and may reside anywhere in the world and must submit the following:

One copy of an original screenplay (in digital formats only as defined within the submission forum selected - PDFs are preferred), approximately 80-130 pages in length for feature length scripts and 3-30 pages for short scripts, formatted in industry standard screenplay format and written in English.

Please note: Only original works are accepted. No revisions or updated versions will be accepted beyond the initial submission.

Title pages with script title, author(s), and contact information, may be included, but the script versions presented to our readers and judges will be modified by internal staff to only include a title page with only the script title so that our readers and judges will not know the author names or genders to ensure a fully unbiased reading experience.

A completed application form and its appropriate entry fee are required for all entries. NO FEE WAIVERS will be considered for this competition.

Applicants may submit multiple entries, however, these must be submitted separately, along with respective fee(s) for each submission.

Collaborative works are accepted and are treated as (1) submission, regardless of how many authors are responsible for creating the work and any prizes awarded will be divided evenly among the authors.

VISIONFEST – Domani Vision Film Society LLC, based upon its own opinions and voting procedures and protocols, reserves the right to grant no awards if there is no entry that qualifies with sufficient merit.

The burden of obtaining copyright, Writers Guild Registration, and all proprietary interests for the submitted material rests solely on the applicant(s).

Any cash prize winner(s) of an amount over $599 will be required to file a W-9 before the cash prize can be distributed.

VISIONFEST - Domani Vision Film Society LLC reserves the right to publish the name, script title, and images used in affiliation with the script for any VISIONFEST promotions and/or promotions of sponsors or competition affiliates.

To the accuracy of the information supplied, any false or misleading information on the application, or any failure to comply with the rules and regulations set forth by VISIONFEST - Domani Vision Film Society LLC may result in disqualification and forfeiture of any awards or cash prizes.
