The International Children's Film Festival NEXT (ICHFF NEXT) brings a curated selection of feature and short local and international cinema dedicated to our youngest film buffs.

Catering for children aged 4-16, the festival's program ranges from non-verbal films for the miniature movie lover, through to a more challenging mix of foreign and English language films from all over the world, perfect for older budding cinephiles.

All of the new films in the ICHFF NEXT program are Ukrainian and foreign premieres, handpicked from world-class film festivals such as Berlin, Toronto, Melbourne and Seattle. These films rarely get a release outside of their home countries, so ICHFF NEXT provides one of the only ways for families to catch them on the big screen in Ukraine.

After a successful launch in 2015, expanded in Odessa 2019 for their most successful festival yet. In 2016, ICHFF NEXT collaborated with Odessa Film Studio and Planeta Kino to present an expansive program of short films and hands-on workshops.

Awards are announced at the conclusion of each Festival. Awards are given in the form of certificates.

Rules & Terms

Festival films reach unique audiences, diverse in age, socioeconomic background, and ethnic heritage, as well as a broad range of children and teens, educators, parents, and peers unduplicated in the youth film festival audience landscape worldwide. At post-screening discussions, filmmakers have an incomparable opportunity to connect with the widest possible array of viewers.

After submitting, please check your FilmFreeway account to make sure that your submission meets our requirements and is 'In Consideration'. It is your responsibility to make sure all requirements are met and necessary information is given.

Filmmakers are responsible for the shipment of the exhibition copy to BFF. BFF will cover outbound shipping only.

ICHFF NEXT reserves the right to use images from films selected in Festival marketing purposes (web; print media, and television).
