Nuuk International Film Festival launched in 2017 as a curated film festival showcasing new and old works from Indigenous Arctic filmmakers.

Since then, the festival has grown each year, introducing an industry section, panel talks, workshops, master classes and more.

As a film nation, Greenland is still in its dawning age. But Inuit storytelling goes back thousands of years, and with Nuuk International Film Festival we provide a platform for our filmmakers to reach new audiences in the Arctic and beyond.

We have a jury award for best shorts film, best feature film and best documentary.

There is no cash award as we are a young festival.

  • Qujanaq NIFF for an outstanding experience in Nuuk. This is a festival with a mission and a strong ethos. I found the program very considerate of its local audience, e.g. the special screening for highschoolstudents. Well done, organisers!

  • I wish we could have traveled to this festival! It looked like a lot of fun, and a great opportunity to visit Greenland. The organizers are a cool bunch and our film AL-SIT got a warm welcome (and won a good-looking award). Qujanaq!
