Filmed by Bike is a film festival based in Portland, Oregon that features the world's best bike movies!

Screening annually at the historic Hollywood Theatre over a single weekend. We curate an inspiring collection of films from all over the world. After our main event, the selected films then go on tour to over 40+ cities worldwide.

Over the course of a busy weekend, we host filmmaker events, bike rides, after parties and three days of film programs at The Hollywood Theatre.

Filmmakers from around the world flock to Portland for this spirited event, an opportunity to meet other filmmakers, share filmmaking and riding tips and explore Portland by bike with local bike enthusiasts.

Film submissions come from independent filmmakers worldwide. Submissions are accepted year round always with the deadline of January 20th for the following year’s program. Hundreds of international entries are submitted every year, and the very best (around 60) are featured in our programs. A panel of esteemed jurors (bicycle and film enthusiasts) makes that tough decision. We accept Jury nominations every fall.

Filmed by Bike movies are now seen all over the world and our screenings regularly sell out. We are so proud to be a part of this global bike community and movement.

  • My short film, Switching Lanes played at the 2023 festival. While I wasn't able to attend in person (due to now living in Australia), communication with the festival organizers was friendly and efficient throughout with Melina even sending me a thanks and a photo of my film playing on screen after the event. Would definitely submit again.

Our Short Doco, "Grandma's Bike" (Mechanic is not a Gendered Word) Premiered at the 19th Annual Filmed By Bike Film Festival. The FBFF team did an amazing job to run a film festival remotely and stream the whole program. We were thrilled to be given an honourable mention in the Audience Favourite category. The Films Manager, Melina Coumas was outstanding in her role, and was endlessly supportive in the lead up to the festival. Highly recommended to watch and submit.
