The Short Film Youth Competition 2024 is back for its fifth year! By harnessing this powerful medium, we want to continue creating more avenues for our youth filmmakers to advocate for mental health/dementia issues.

Mental Health Film Festival Singapore Limited (MHFFS) is a Singapore-based charity and registered non-profit organisation.

MHFFS's vision is to provide an inclusive and safe platform for stories about recovery and resilience.

The 2024 Short Film Yout Competition finalist films will have a chance to be screened at the next Mental Health Film Festival Singapore in November 2024.

Rules & Terms

1) Be between the ages of 15 — 35 years old

2) Be a 𝗿𝗲𝘀𝗶𝗱𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗼𝗳 𝗦𝗶𝗻𝗴𝗮𝗽𝗼𝗿𝗲 at time of submission

3) Your short film should be relevant to at least one of the themes for this year's competition:
- Coping and Growing
- Caring for Self and/or Others
- Creative Experimentations in Mental Health
- Intergenerational Relationships

4) The maximum length of short films should be no longer than 15 minutes (including opening and closing credits)

5) Submit in either the 'Youth Showcase' or 'Open Competition' Category

6) Submit your film by 14 July 2024.

Film Submission Format
25. A soft copy of the film will be required from the Finalists. The required format is listed below
a. Container Format: QuickTime (.mov) or MP4 (.mp4)
b. Codec: H.264
c. Aspect Ratio: 16:9 (16:9 letterbox or pillar box if the film is in another native aspect ratio)
d. Resolution: 1920 x 1080 PROGRESSIVE
e. Frame Rate: 24 or 25 FPS only (As much as possible, try to submit in 24 FPS)
f. Audio: Stereo Channels, AAC codec, 48kHz sample rate
g. Maximum Duration: 15 minutes including opening title and closing credits h. Subtitles in English if your film is in another foreign language.
