The fourth annual St. Auggie Shorts Film Festival will take place in March, 2027 in the Lewis Auditorium on the historic campus of Flagler College in beautiful downtown St. Augustine, Florida.

See last year's 2026 film schedule here: https://stauggieshorts.com/events/layout-2/

St. Augustine is the oldest continuously occupied settlement of European and African-American origin in the United States. Filled with narrow streets and balconied houses, visitors enjoy a touch of Spain while visiting national landmarks like the Castillo de San Marcos and the Bridge of Lions. Located just a few miles across that bridge is St Augustine, Beach-- home to one of the top-ten beaches in the nation.

Participants will find dozens of unique restaurants and art galleries all within walking distance of the festival venues

St. Auggie Shorts strives to educate, entertain, and inspire future generations of filmmakers by curating a unique two-day event that is entertaining, informative and provides audiences an opportunity to enjoy a wide-variety of short films created by professional and student filmmakers. Curated by the Cinematic Arts major at Flagler College, the festival programs thematic blocks of films and is dedicated to supporting those filmmakers who attend by hosting Q&A sessions and providing opportunities for audience interaction.

Over the course of two days in March audience members are treated to film screenings in Lewis Auditorium on the campus of historical Flagler College, once the sight of Henry Flagler's Ponce de Leon hotel, a US National Historic Landmark.

Outstanding work in the cinematic arts is honored with the "Henry" award, named after Henry Flagler. Categories of awards include:

Best Florida Short (production team or film based in Florida)
Best Documentary Short
Best Narrative Short
Best Environmental Short (either documentary or narrative that addresses either explicitly or implicitly an environmental issue)
Best Student Short
Best Writing (from any category)
Best of Fest Short

All films must have a total running time of 30 minutes or less.

Films may be moved to more appropriate categories at the discretion of the festival directors.

All non-English language films must have English subtitles or be dubbed in English.

First and second time directors are encouraged. Northeast Florida premieres will be given preference.

All films must be submitted in their final, complete state via online screener.

Please do NOT send stills or press kits. If your film is selected we will ask you to email us any and all promotional materials at that time.

You may enter more than one film, but you must complete a separate entry form and pay an entry fee for each film.

Any submissions with an unpaid balance after a deadline will be required to pay the following deadline’s submission fee. Failure to pay the appropriate fee will result in disqualification without a refund.

All works selected must be available for us to download by January 15, 2027 for inclusion in the festival.

Filmmakers are submitting their own original work, and affirm that there are no disputes regarding the ownership or distribution or exhibition rights of the submission in part or in entirety.

Filmmakers agree and hold the St. Auggies Shorts Film Festival harmless from and defend them from all claims, demands, losses, damages, judgments, liabilities, and expenses (including attorneys' fees) arising out of or in connection with any and all claims of third parties, whether groundless or not, based on any film submitted to the festival.

SELECTION
Film selection for the festival will be made by the St. Auggies Shorts Film Festival Programming Selection Committee. Films submitted to this festival will be judged on their storytelling, technical quality and overall aesthetics. Additionally, each film must be engaging and entertaining, impacting audiences by educating, inspiring, or challenging their perspective.

The selected filmmakers will be responsible for all shipping fees.

All filmmakers will be notified via email of acceptance.

By agreeing to these terms, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agreed to the regulations of the St. Auggie Shorts Film Festival and that, to the best of your knowledge, the information that you have supplied is correct.

SCREENERS
All projects must be submitted either via secure online screener - either as a password protected Vimeo link attached to your submission, or uploaded directly to FilmFreeway.

The submitter is responsible for ensuring that their screener link and password is active through at least the end of the festival. In the event of a password or URL change after submitting, email us immediately. If we discover an error with the screener, we will attempt to email the submitter for an update.

Failure to respond by the final submission deadline will result in disqualification without refund of submission fees. Online screeners must be available to stream, we do not accept any films that must be downloaded.

RULES FOR SUBMISSION
In addition to the rules and eligibility requirements listed above, the submitting filmmaker must be either the producer or director of the film and submit the following:
- A completed official entry via this site.
- Payment of the non-refundable entry fee must accompany the submission.
- Multiple submissions must be provided as individual submissions.

Other films may be invited to screen at the Festival as a “Special Presentation” or in a “To Be Announced” time slot; these will not be eligible for the Audience Choice Award or category awards. “Special Presentation” films are generally titles that already have major distribution or have had their broadcast premiere prior to the festival.

Filmmakers grant this film festival the right to utilize an excerpt from any film submitted and accepted for exhibition at the festival for promotional purposes.

All accepted films will screen at least once during the festival, with the possibility of an encore screening for select films/shorts blocks when appropriate. All scheduling is purely at the discretion of the film festival staff. From time to time the students will award an honorable mention to a film that we are unable to screen due to our limited time.

Communication is solid. Saint Augustine is a fabulous place for a festival with a lovely audience who appreciates the well curated films.
