DCFF (Deptford Cinema Film Festival) is a Quarterly International Film Festival based in Deptford, South London at the community cinema Deptford Cinema. The festival aims to provide a platform for all types of narrative short-form films, with a special focus on projects from new and upcoming filmmakers.

As our main venue is currently closed, screenings will be held at The Ivy House in Nunhead for the foreseeable future (until we acquire a new venue for the cinema).

Please note that although not classified, most films will only be suitable for adults so please do not bring children to the screenings. Due to recent events, the festival will no longer accept films from agencies.

ABOUT THE VENUE:

Deptford Cinema is an entirely volunteer-run community cinema based in the heart of South East London. We show a range of independent, underground, alternative and arthouse films along with running live music and art-focused events. Due to the pandemic, we are currently closed but will be reopening again in a number of venues in the summer (fingers crossed). Full details on our site - www.deptfordcinema.org

If you'd like to get involved in helping to run the cinema in any capacity at all, come along to our Weekly Volunteers Meeting (on Zoom) - every Sunday at 11 am. Please email info@deptfordcinema.org for further details on how to join.

All submissions are made via FilmFreeway.

SUBMISSION SPECIFICATIONS
- Maximum Running Time: 15 Minutes
- Formats Acceptable: Full HD MP4
- All Films must have been completed after January 1, 2020.
- DCFF does not require World / Premiere Status.

- Although a filmmaker can submit more than one film, only one film per filmmaker can be selected and screened. This is in the interest of fairness to all submitters.

The filmmaker/institution that is submitting the film must own the rights to do so and is responsible for the content they are providing. By entering your film for consideration for the festival, you authorise that your work is cleared for festival exhibition (both for physical screening and online), for promotional use (for example in the trailer) of the festival and accept full legal responsibility for the intellectual property therein. If for any reason you prefer to limit the geography of the online screening, please let me know and we can arrange this. Similarly, if you prefer for the film to only be part fo the physical screening, please just let us know.

- Entry fees are non-refundable
- Only completed films may be submitted and will be considered.

**************

Entry into the festival constitutes permission to use stills, posters and excerpts and or trailers, as part of the marketing for the festival via our social media channels.

You acknowledge that no submission fee refunds are given once this application has been submitted. You also acknowledge that you will not receive any compensation for the use of your film by the festival in accordance with the rules, terms and conditions.

A complete electronic version of your short must be made available to the festival no later than two weeks before the screening. Failure to do this may result in the film not being screened despite being selected due to the logistical challenges this will cause.

Submissions without sufficient promotional details provided may not be utilised in the festival promotional output, therefore please ensure that a full film summary and poster is submitted to gain the full benefits of the festival exposure.

Films submitted to the incorrect category, or which clearly do not belong in that genre, will be disqualified from the festival. Any submission fees in these cases will not be refunded. Once submitted to any particular genre-specific season, a film cannot be moved to another category. Again if the film is submitted to the wrong season no submission fees can be refunded. In other words please take care when submitting.

Films with graphic adult content cannot be screened (this mainly relates to pornographic content, but includes anything in extreme bad taste) and again will be disqualified.

You understand and acknowledge that, if you are under 18 years of age, your parent or guardian must agree to the terms of this Filmmaker Release on your behalf. As a Parent or Guardian of a minor filmmaker, if applicable, you understand and acknowledge that you are agreeing to the terms of this Filmmaker/Guardian/Representative Release on behalf of your child or a child for whom you are a legally designated Guardian.

By applying to the festival you are automatically opted in to receiving future communications about events that may not be related to the original season applied for. This is in order to give people a fair chance to benefit from the festival, even if their work is not initially selected in the specific season applied for. You can opt-out of these communications by replying STOP.

We are unable to pay fees for films.
