Mission

The CWVFS was founded to honor and empower female filmmakers and fans. Our mission is to create a new forum for visionary creators, so that their works—with the power to heal, transform and transcend—may reach wider audiences, and make the impact they were destined for.

About the Festival

The CoSM Women’s Visionary Film Symposium is a four-day showcase of new and established female artists making an impact in filmmaking worldwide. From groundbreaking industry panels to workshops, premiers of feature length films to shorts, we will explore what it means to be a woman today through powerful and thought-provoking discussions and works of art. The Symposium will focus on our collective wisdom, our families, communities, and our future.

What to Envision

This immersion into women’s visionary film will take place at CoSM, Chapel of Sacred Mirrors, a sanctuary of visionary art founded in upstate New York by Alex Grey & Allyson Grey. A celebration of life, personal growth, social responsibility, healthy living, and creative expression, this gathering of conscious women will include daily yoga, guided meditations and holistic healing workshops, juxtaposed with screenings and panels on content, industry culture and distribution. To honor this one-of-a-kind gathering, a New Moon Ceremony on Sunday night will celebrate the Divine Feminine; offering an opportunity for the creators, taste-makers, thought leaders, and fans of women-powered cinema to connect like never before.

Jury awards will be given for the following categories:
Narrative Feature
Documentary Feature
Narrative Short
Doc Short
Student Film

Audience Award for Best Film of the Weekend

This Festival was so inspiring. The quality of the films was amazing, and I enjoyed meeting other filmmakers who attended the symposium. Beautiful location, welcoming and supportive vibe. I felt honored to have my film screened. I found the film choices to be extremely well curated to mix laughter and tears, and look deeply at important issues.

Unfortunately I was unable to attend the festival, but it looked like a fabulous event. Communication was great, always new what was happening. Perhaps it would be nice, given that this is an unusual festival, if the organisers could take one photo of each of the films screening at the actual event as a small memento? Just a thought. But honestly this seemed like a great event and I am so thrilled to have been a part of it!

This was a great opportunity for my short film. The film explores a difficult subject and even though this subject matter may not have exactly fit into their programming they screened my film. I am so happy they were open. It was a great experience!
