Heritales – International Heritage Film Festival 2024 –
"The role of peace for sustainable communities"
The Heritales project aims to disseminate material and immaterial heritage using narratives of an artistic and playful nature. It is based on photography, games, theatre, performances, or interactive media, mainly on the seventh art through documentaries, animated films, and short films. It considers that the promotion of the world's different cultures should be shared forever through these supports. On the one hand, it aims to encourage sustainability linked to communities and promote a reinterpretation of what can be valued as cultural heritage, emphasizing the importance of education to transmit it. On the other hand, it wants to encourage new ways of transferring knowledge, encouraging intercultural dialogue, and giving way to international scientific collaboration through partnerships.
In this 6th edition, the Heritales Festival will bring together films, documentaries, and other artistic works. It will explore once again cultural diversity and promote the sustainability of cultures and places, communities, and ecosystems. Over three months, more than 20 films will be available for viewing and voting online, and also promoting live sessions in various international spaces. The culmination of the festival is celebrated with an award ceremony in the last week of September. As part of the event, we will try to organize a three-day residency for the directors of the selected works. During this period, workshops and debates will take place, and film projections for the general public.
In this sixth edition, Heritales would like to consolidate a partnership with the UNESCO Chair of Education for Global Peace and Sustainability at the University of Lisbon (Portugal). We will be supported by MUSEUS E MONUMENTOS DE PORTUGAL, E.P.E
