FESTIVAL VISION

JIFCES aimed to popularize our historically ancient culture and bring the virtue value of our ancestors back to the modern era. It is the value that lives forever as it already shaped who we are now, the nowadays civilization. To do so, we invite all filmmakers, artists, and newcomer from around the world to submit and participate in bringing up the good essence inside us through the film.

FESTIVAL MISSION

To make the film as a means to shine out culture and civilization, and to support independent filmmakers to shine their work internationally and specifically, in the heart of Java people.

JIFCES is conducted in collaboration between seasoned international filmmakers and the Madukara Foundation.

We are accepting film from all over the world, in documentaries and narrative film category, and open the door widely for newcomers in the industry.

The place is great to relish the ancient atmosphere of Kraton and winning filmmakers be pampered by the relaxing fresh air at the foot of Ungaran Mountain in Central Java--a perfect place for relaxing your mind and refreshing your mind while exchanging knowledge with other winning filmmakers.

Submission Guidelines

- We accept a film with any general theme, except for films that contain elements of pornography or offend a particular group or class or religion.
- We are keen to watch inspiring films with theme warrior, patriotism, female role model, inspiring films, leadership, but also eager to be pleased by excellent films from various genres.

- FILMS CATEGORY:

A. Documentary Short: documentary film with duration not longer than 50 minutes
B. Feature Documentary: documentary film with duration above 50 minutes
C. Short Film: narrative film with duration less than 50 minutes
D. Feature Film: narrative film with duration longer than 50 minutes
E. Rising star, open for all newcomers and students (documentary or narrative film at any length). We accept a director debut film or a film directed by students. In his/her application, the submitter must give a brief background about himself relating to the film submitted.

- Films could be from any year.
- International films that are not in English must have hard coded English subtitles or dubbed in English.
- Queen Shima Platinum Awards Winners will compete for Best Film.

- Winning Trophy for overall winner.
- All winning filmmakers will be given 3 days accommodation and food, and will be staying in the Palace. The filmmakers will experience the Royal Kingdom experience. All events including screening will be conducted in the Palace area. Winning filmmakers will also receive special certificate from the palace.

Please read all rules and regulations below carefully before submitting your work.
This agreement pertains to all work/s submitted to Java International Film & Culture Festival.
By submitting your film/s or work/s to Java International Film & Culture Festival (the Festival), you are agreeing to all TERMS AND AGREEMENT below in full:

FILM SUBMISSION
1. All films submitted must have been legally secured.
2. If nominated or passed the first Selection phase, the submitter must send 2 DVD PAL (region 0) and 1 (one) blu-ray (optional) or DCP (optional) for final judging and public screening. Mark case and DVD, with title, length, and director' name.
3. We do not do downloads of any kind.
4. All transportation/shipping costs (including customs clearance) to Jakarta, plus fees for insurance while in transit, must be borne by the submitter (please write: For Cultural Purposes only - Not for commercial use) on the envelope and the shipping invoices. The Festival Director reserves the right to refuse any shipment involving unpaid costs.
5. All submissions should be sent pre-paid.
6. All submission fees are non-refundable.
7. The Festival will not return any submission/exhibition copies. Please do not send original.

JUDGING & SCREENINGS
8. All submitted films are screened and evaluated by a Preview and Selection Panel which appointed by the Festival steering committee.
9. The Festival will only screen films that have passed the Festival's standard of technical requirements for a public screening.
10. The Festival does not pay any screening fees. Not all winning films will be screened. The festival has the full right to select the winning films to be screened and reserve the right to refuse to screen any film deemed to be inappropriate by the Festival.
11. All selection committees' and juries' decisions are final.

AWARDS
12. Attending winners with complimentary accommodation is valid only for the director or producer (one person from each film).
13. Regardless of the Prize and the winning status, winning filmmakers who can't attend the Awards Ceremony, will only receive their Winning Laurels.

THE FESTIVAL RIGHT
14. Submission of an entry gives the festival permission to have accepted work exhibited, photographed, locally telecast, and reproduced either in part or whole, for educational or publicity purposes. Filmmakers can request in writing that their material not be used for such purposes after the event.
15. The Festival reserves the right to make any necessary changes in regulations or scheduling.
16. The festival has the right to disqualify a winning film for any reasons, without having to explain the reasons to the submitter.
17. All filmmakers/submitters are expected to keep communications with the Festival professional and in good taste. Failure to do so may result in disqualification at any point in the adjudication process, including the nullification of Official Selection status or nominations. That stated, the Festival will only communicate with the person who submitted his/her film to the festival, and that Festival should not be expected to communicate with any other persons.
18. The festival has the right to work with any institution and partner festivals for all kind of cooperation, including joint events or promotions.
19. The Festival Management reserves the right to make changes in the profile of the Festival if it becomes necessary to do so due to circumstances beyond his/her control.

DISPUTE
20. The submitter/filmmakers acknowledges and agree that remediation of any sort will be limited to a refund of their submission fees.
21. All disputes in respect of any matter relating to the Festival shall be subjected to the exclusive jurisdiction of the competent courts in North Jakarta. Any dispute arising as a result of submission to the Festival will have a recourse limited to the lesser of either the submission fee paid or the cost of correcting the issue.

By submitting to the Festival and participating in the Festival, submitter/filmmaker:
Acknowledged and guarantee that all work/s submitted have been legally secured, that is but not limited to music rights, songs, etc. The submitter releases the Festival and all its members, affiliates, and partners from any legal action whatsoever.

Acknowledges that he or she has obtained all necessary rights and authorizations from other individuals and third parties as necessary before submitting the film/s or screenplay to the Festival.

Agree to indemnify us and hold us and our employees, owners, affiliates, and partners harmless from all claims and liability associated with your participation or entry to the Festival.

Acknowledges that he or she has read, understood, agreed with, and will comply all of the Terms and Condition above, and accept all of the terms and conditions herein, in their entirety, without modification, and that he or she is 18 years of age or older and mentally competent to submit this application.
