Harkat is back with the 7th edition of the 16mm Film Festival, a festival exclusively screening celluloid based work. This includes all formats of analogue film such as 8mm, 16mm & 35mm.
As an ode to art and film, we remind ourselves of why this medium is our own artistic choice. Its inherent tangibility and texture, the labour and slowness it demands, the art and craft of making with it, the discoveries and happy accidents.
We are open to all kinds of artistic and personal explorations - experimental, narrative, music videos, travelogues, found footage to name a few. Films from a diverse range of cultural, historical and visual contexts.
That the visuals speak to the medium is what we seek in your submissions.
The 16mm Film Festival, conceived with a view of re-connecting with the cinematic medium through it's celluloid history, has been drawing an amazing response these past few years. With year long engagements and facilitation in the realm of film, Harkat has been working its way through re-building and supporting infrastructure for filmmakers and artists who want to work on film since the past 6 years.
The 16mm Film Festival is organised by Harkat, a film lab, alternative arts space and boutique film production company based in Mumbai and Berlin.
