The International Environmental Film Festival, or FReDD Festival (Film, Research and Sustainable Development), takes place every year in Toulouse and throughout the Occitanie region. It is France's leading audiovisual festival of scientific culture linked to sustainable development.

The 14th edition will take place from 30 September to 6 October 2024 in Toulouse and the Occitanie region. As in previous years, it will feature a selection of original, powerful and intelligent films linked to the ecological transition. Selected films will have the opportunity to be presented on big screens in some forty partner cinemas in Toulouse and the Occitanie region, usually in the presence of the directors.

The films selected will be judged by a panel of filmmakers, industry professionals and leading environmentalists, who will award prizes in six categories :
- FReDD International Grand Prize
- Public Award
- One Hour Film Award (52 min)
- Science Film Award
- Short Film Award
- Young Audience Short Film Award
We hold a ceremony at which we invite directors and reward the winners with a piece of art. A great opportunity given to filmmakers to watch their film on the big screen and for networking.

FReDD's purpose is to offer the public major films highlighting scientific knowledge, techniques and research around the themes of ecological transition. FReDD produces events and promotes resources offering numerous opportunities to encourage democratic conversation around these issues. Our festival represents France within the Green Film Network (GFN), a network of over 40 green film festivals worldwide.

To participate, submit your films and audiovisual formats before March 30, 2024.
We look forward to seeing you at the festival !

The judges of the festival will carefully select the films to be nominated for awards and to be screened in front of the live audience during the festival, usually in the presence of the directors. At the end of the festival, we hold a ceremony at which we invite directors and reward the winners with a piece of art. A great opportunity given to filmmakers to watch their film on the big screen and for networking.

Very good experience. Warm Hospitality. Very good screening quality at the Mazades Theatre. Very invested crew. There was just a bit of a lack of cinema professionals for the short competition.

The FReDD is a great festival taking place in Toulouse. We strongly support this major green film festival. As we visited it for the shortmovie competition, everything was very well organised, we had really great discussions about ecology and the big screen. We wish this nice festival to continue living for films and ecology!
