Collected Voices 2022 is looking for the best films made by amateur and professional filmmakers about life in Chicago and abroad. This year's Collected Voices theme is MORE THAN WATER! The human body is roughly 60% water, and the earth is more than 70%, but who are we beyond the physical and material world? We only have one earth to share, so let's share our stories on how we relate to our environments.
As we still anticipate Covid restrictions to in-person screenings, all films will be available online during the film festival season. Viewers will select their favorite films for award nomination. Awards screening will be followed by Q&A with filmmakers and award announcements.
Collected Voices features original ethnographic media that explore the intersection of race, age, class, gender, and sexuality within Chicago and society. The goal of the festival is to introduce the ethnographic genre to non-academic communities through short and feature-length films and highlight Chicago-based artists. The festival also increases exposure for independent filmmakers and fosters a dialogue between media artists, academics, and marginalized communities.
The Best of the Fest are recognized at our annual Halloween Awards Party with laurels to be used on future works.
