The Short Shots Film Competition is an international bi-annual short film competition dedicated to discovering and celebrating exceptional independent short-form storytelling from filmmakers around the world. Showcasing selected films across all genres, the competition highlights emerging talent, innovative voices, and cinematic creativity in a fast-growing global independent film landscape. The winning filmmaker receives a $500 Grand Prize for Best Short Film, recognizing outstanding achievement in independent cinema.

Now operating as an exclusive Film Village Streaming
festival event, Short Shots Film Competition has expanded beyond traditional screenings to provide filmmakers with year-round opportunities for exposure and audience growth. Selected filmmakers may receive opportunities for non-exclusive film distribution through Film Village Streaming, allowing creators to retain ownership and flexibility while reaching viewers worldwide through digital streaming access.

In addition to competition screenings, participating filmmakers may be featured in filmmaker interviews, promotional spotlights, curated showcases, and digital festival programming designed to extend the visibility and lifespan of their projects beyond the competition itself. With a mission centered on accessibility, creator empowerment, and global discovery, Short Shots Film Competition continues to provide a filmmaker-focused platform where independent short films can connect with audiences internationally while opening doors for continued exposure and collaboration.
