RULES AND TERMS
The registration and participation of a film or project implies full acceptance of FICMA's rules, conditions and regulations.
Registration will be open from Monday, March 18 until 11:59 p.m. on July 18, 2024, Mexico City time. All films and projects that are in a language other than Spanish must be subtitled in Spanish or English, to be part of the selection process. The films and projects that are chosen to be “Official Selection” and “Selection in Competition” must have subtitles in Spanish, otherwise they will not participate in the festival. They will be given a reasonable time to subtitle them, they will also be put in contact with companies associated with the subtitling service, the cost of which will depend on the project in question, this will be reviewed with the participant via email and/or via private mobile phone (whatsapp). .
All participants must register their film with a private cell phone number and email. In the pre-selection process, an immediate response is required with a maximum tolerance of 10 days. Don't forget to check your SPAM, social, notifications and promotions folders.
Mexican and foreign filmmakers with films and projects produced between 2022, 2023 and 2024 may participate.
Films and projects entered in all categories must be made with devices such as smartphones, tablets, Action Cameras, drones, DSLR cameras, Blackmagic pocket, Osmo, 360° Cameras or other alternative techniques such as Zoom, Parkview cameras, Surveillance cameras, digital animation, artificial intelligence, Virtual Reality among others.
Entries made entirely with Red One, Scarlet X, Epic, Arri Alexa, Sony f6, 35mm, 16mm cameras without using any alternative media will not be accepted.
The registered films and projects must clearly specify what creative devices or media were used for their production, verifying through photos, stills or behind-the-scenes videos.
Films and projects must be registered on the FILMFREEWAY, FESTHOME or MOVIBETA platforms.
Screenings will be held in person and/or online. The festival reserves the right to program the films in one of the two modalities or both.

THAT IS CONSIDERED MOST SUITABLE FOR THE OFFICIAL SELECTION*
REGISTRATION CONDITIONS AND FEES
Registration will begin on Monday, March 18 and will close at 11:59 p.m. on July 18, 2024, Mexico City time, with no possibility of extension.
Filmmakers will be able to register and pay the registration fees for their projects through the FILMFREEWAY, FESTHOME and MOVIBETA platforms.
From March 18 to April 18, registrations will cost $12 USD for feature films and $6 USD for other categories. From April 19 to July 18, registrations will cost $18 USD for feature films and $10 USD for short films. .
Participants may register one or more films. Advertising spots or corporate or government videos will not be accepted.
Once a film is registered at FICMA and subsequently chosen for the official selection, the project will become part of the Ninth Edition FICMA 2024, it cannot be withdrawn or canceled from the final programming.
It is mandatory that participants submit a Press Kit that contains a technical sheet, stills of the film (300 dpi, in jpg or png format), photograph of the Director (300 dpi, in jpg or png format), film poster, production photographs/ behind the camera (300 Dpi, in jpg or png format) and trailer (optional).
This Press Kit must be previously organized in a Google DRIVE or Dropbox folder with access permissions to share, on the FILMFREEWAY, FESTHOME or MOVIBETA platform where the material can be downloaded.
Movies must have the download option in the highest quality and without watermark on the platform you have signed up for.
OF THE PRE-SELECTION PROCESS
Once the call closes, a preselection will be made in the month of August. The FICMA team will communicate with the pre-selected filmmakers via email and/or WhatsApp (an email address that is frequently reviewed and WhatsApp number is required) to follow up on this process.
If there is no response from the preselected filmmakers within a period of 10 calendar days, the project will be automatically disqualified.
The download option (via FILMFREEWAY, FESTHOME and MOVIBETA) is mandatory. IF IT IS NOT ENABLED, THE PROJECT WILL BE DISCARDED FROM THE PRE-SELECTION PROCESS.
The format for viewing and downloading is MP4 full HD WITHOUT WATERMARK and with the best quality that your device or camera allows, physical copies will not be accepted.

SELECTION AND DISPLAY
The Organizing Committee will evaluate the submitted films and choose the best of the works in the different categories of FICMA and will choose those that will make up the official and competition selection of the Ninth Edition of FICMA 2024 and reserves the right to schedule the order, date and form of exhibition (online or in person or both) of the selected projects.
FICMA does not grant any type of financial remuneration for exhibition rights of films that participate in the official selection or in competition.
To make the selection, the committee will evaluate the projects considering the production values of the film (script, direction, photography, editing, image quality), devices used for recording, use of alternative technologies, creativity and originality.
The filmmakers who register the film are accredited as the authors of the work and holders of the moral and patrimonial rights thereof. The filmmakers undertake to exempt FICMA from any responsibility for any possible copyright claim that could be generated by part of third parties.
If the registered project presents internal conflicts or conflicts with third parties that affect the image or organization of the festival, as well as the interaction between the public and/or other participants (Whether in person or digitally) it will be automatically disqualified from the selection.
The films that are chosen for the official selection will form part of the FICMA digital collection, which will be used only for cultural and artistic purposes.
The results of the official selection will be published starting Tuesday, October 22 in the press, digital platforms and social networks of FICMA. Those selected will be notified by email and Whatsapp.
FICMA may use fragments of the films for its promotion and dissemination.
The films of the official selection will be part of touring exhibitions and film series in exhibition agreements with other festivals, institutions and digital platforms with the required digital security.
THE PROGRAMMING MAY BE SUBJECT TO CHANGE FOR REASONS OUTSIDE OF THE FESTIVAL.
JURY AND PRIZES
The jury will be made up of professionals from the film, culture and technology industries and its resolution will be final.
The winners of the different categories in competition and the honorable mentions will be announced at the closing ceremony and through email, website and social networks of FICMA.
Jury members will not be able to participate in the different competing categories of the festival.
No FICMA member may be part of the jury or compete in the festival.
The official FICMA award consists of a printed and/or digital recognition with official validity, as well as awards in some categories from our sponsors, which will be revealed on social networks and the official website.
FICMA reserves the right to grant honorable mentions to projects that it considers worthy of them.
REGISTRATION AND PARTICIPATION OF A FILM OR PROJECT REPRESENTS FULL ACCEPTANCE OF THE RULES, CONDITIONS AND RULES OF THE FESTIVAL.
