DUE TO THE CORONA -19 VIRUS WE HAVE CANCELLED THE 2020 FESTIVAL BUT LOOK FORWARD TO SEEING YOUR SUBMISSIONS IN 2021.
THANKS!

The Flint Fright FilmFest is a one day film festival showcasing short indie horror and sci-fi films from around the world. Our show is held in Flint, Michigan at Mott Community College in conjunction with their Media Arts & Entertainment Technology program.

There is a submission fee but we have tried to keep it as low as possible to allow people to submit without going broke. Our submission fee is $3 with a low entry cost for people coming to the festival so we can get as many eyes as possible on your films.

We are a small show run by passionate fans trying to support independent films and the local horror scene. We are writers, film makers, musicians, community activists, artists, fathers, mothers, and huge fans of these movies.

While we would love to have filmmakers in attendance for the event we understand that most of you that are submitting will be unable to attend. Should your film be chosen we will promote it and your work leading up to the festival and should you win we'll find a way to get you involved in that process.

We are looking for short horror and science fiction films but will consider dark fantasy.
We have a limited time for our show so we want films that are at least one minute long and no longer than thirty-five minutes.

We accept DVD, Blu Rays, and digital submissions.

We request the film, and details about the film for submission - director, writer, actors...
If it is accepted for the festival we will ask for the poster and other information for sharing.

PLEASE only submit HORROR, SCIENCE FICTION, or DARK FANTASY. We are primarily looking for horror but are open to the other two genres as well. We are getting great entries but are getting a lot of films that do not fit our festival and it's slowing our process down.

MUST be a student of a Flint, MI/Genesee County, Michigan school to win the JON COCKERILL MEMORIAL AWARD.

MUST be a Michigan based filmmaker to win the CHARLES SHAVER MEMORIAL AWARD.

  • I was unable to attend the event unfortunately because I live in Europe. But I'm very happy that my film was selected for this beautiful festival. I received very friendly mails from the festival, you guys really love cinema. After the festival was over, my film was even shortly reviewed by two video podcasters. Amazing! Thank you!
