The São Paulo Times Film Festival

The São Paulo Times Film Festival is an event held by newspaper The São Paulo Times® in 2022 in Cine Belas Artes, São Paulo.

The idea is to reward short films that have been internationally distinguished between 2-50 minutes.

We want to see the excellence that has been produced around the world in various categories.

The exhibition will take place in cinema Caixa Belas Artes, famous cinema of street in São Paulo.

Official certificate will be available to international short films in the following categories:
- Best Short Film
- Best Short Documentary
- Best Short Short Film
- Best Sci-Fi Short Film
- Best Horror Short Film
- Best Experimental Short Film
- Best Comedy Short Film
- Best Drama Short Film
- Best Animation Short Film
- Best Human Rights Short Film
- Best YouTube Video
- Best Wedding Film
- Best Women Film Director
- Best Vegan Film

GENERAL RULES

- All entries must be submitted digitally. Send us a link to your film on an online platform like Vimeo. Be sure to give us the online location of your film, with any relevant passwords needed for viewing, as well as your submission tracking number.
- If you are submitting more than one entry, a separate submission is required for each film.
- Competition is open International entries. International films must be in English or with English/Portuguese subtitle.
- Please send any related press materials, including electronic press kit, and photos to festival@saopaulotimes.com.br, including your tracking number.
- Short Films produced after 2010.

The São Paulo Times Film Festival is an innovative online festival. It was a great opportunity to showcase our movie, The Incredible Tale of the Spiritless Man, without losing the premiere status. I'm very humbled to be awardade Best Female Director with my short movie, The Incredible Tale of the Spiritless Man, and I most definetely will be submitting my next films into the festival.

Even though I was asking questions during Christmas holidays, the staff were very helpful and put an effort on answering all my questions about the festival.

I was notified that my film was accepted through Film Freeway and then nothing else. I have no idea if my film was even shown. Right now all I know is they took my submission fee, notified me I was in (with no other details whatsoever), and that's it. Very disappointing.

I am confused. I received no communication from the festival at all. Only from FilmFreeway that the film was selected and requested for download. I do not know if or when it was shown. The webpage link does not appear to offer any more information either. An email I sent to the festival with the address FilmFreeway provided was returned as undeliverable.

A little disappointing. As a Semi Finalist, I have no idea what category I was a semi-finalist for and I had to research how to receive the award. This lead to further disappointment to find out that I had to pay even more money, significantly more money for the trophy. As an independant filmmaker who financed my own film I was saddened to learn that the only way to receive the award was to pay for it. I've never heard of this kind of thing before. Unfortunately there is no budget left on this film so I can't afford to pay for the Trophy.
