Entries are now open for the 2023 TAIS Animation Showcase! The TAIS Animation Showcase celebrates the best independent animation shorts from Canada and around the world. Our Showcase is a snapshot of contemporary animation today, featuring a diverse range of possibilities in the animated image.

The gala screening for the 17th Annual TAIS Showcase will take place on November 11th in Toronto, Ontario, Canada.

ABOUT TAIS

The Toronto Animated Image Society is a non-profit, charitable, artist-run production centre dedicated to the art of independent animation.

SUBMISSION DEADLINES AND FEES

Regular Deadline August 1st, (11:59 pm EDT) / $10.00 USD
Late Deadline September 5th (11:59 pm EDT) / $15.00 USD

All artists/filmmakers selected for the TAIS Showcase will receive an Artist Fee.

SCREENING FEES

-TAIS prioritizes the payment of artist fees. Showcase artists will be paid a screening fee for the presentation of their film at the TAIS Animation Showcase 2023 ($88-$133 CAD.)

-Only independent animated films completed within the last 2 years may be entered.
-Eligibility is restricted to animated films including narrative and experimental animation of any genre and medium.

-Films should be no more than 15 minutes in length.

-We accept films in any language. If your film is not in English please include subtitles if needed.

-Screeners must be submitted by the REGULAR deadline on August 1st (11:59 pm EDT) OR by the LATE deadline on September 5th (11:59 pm EDT).

-The person(s) submitting the film must either be the creator of the film or have express permission from the creator of the film to submit it.

-The creator(s) of the film must have the rights or express permission to use all materials used in the film.

-Accepted filmmakers will be notified by email and are required to confirm their participation by the given deadline.

-If accepted, filmmakers are responsible for delivering their festival exhibition copy (Quicktime Pro Res, 4k, or 1920 x 1080 48HZ), press stills, and a press kit on time.

  • It's a treat to be involved in a festival that has such apparent respect for filmmakers of all stripes. The diversity of work on display is always inspiring and it fosters a wonderful sense of community. Always more great people to talk to than I get to.
