Alliance of Women Filmmakers (AWF) was established 17 years ago with a goal to provide a platform and resources for filmmakers creating unique and powerful roles for women. The organization produces the Los Angeles Women's International Film Festival (#lawomensfest) which has showcased hundreds of narratives, documentaries, animations, and student short films made by women from around the world. www.Lawomensfest.com.
AWF has established a network of women filmmakers worldwide and studio executives who share the same passion for creating opportunities and powerful screen images of women. LAWomensFest provides participants a unique opportunity to engage with AWF’s online community to meet other amazing women filmmakers and form career lasting connections.
Lawomensfest alumni have enjoyed continued success including fest alumni Lulu Wang whose film “The Farewell” opened last summer to incredible reviews. https://www.rottentomatoes.com/m/the_farewell_2019.
#LaWomensFest now in its seventeenth year continues to provide a platform and networking opportunities that empower filmmakers to create strong images of women in film. The 2022 festival will be a hybrid event with audience engagement throughout the festival season on Twitter and Instagram Live and Instagram.
