The 8th edition of the Ibiza International Independent Film Festival IBZCF24 has been held in various spaces in the 5 municipalities of the Island, for the first time with the institutional support of the 5 City Councils, and the online version on the Filmin platform. The institutional support in Ibiza is total, adding the Departments of Culture and Tourism of the Island Council of Ibiza plus various private sponsors on the Island. In addition to the collaboration of the Government of the Balearic Islands.
Ibizacinefest has renewed its commitment to Ibiza and culture with a program of 132 national and international titles, exclusive premieres in Spain, 90% of premieres in the Balearic Islands, activities aimed at professionals, short film competitions to discover and promote local and Balearic talent or educational program with special screenings for students and children to create new audiences. The reflection has also had its space through 21 colloquiums after screenings with its creators about their creative process and the relationship between cinema and the most diverse sociocultural realities. We have taken 75 guests to Ibiza, 18 of which are international.
Short films are once again the protagonists of IBZCF24, being qualifiers for the 2024 Goya Awards and in collaboration with the European Film Academy we program Short Films on Tour. IBZCF24 has been a resounding success. The commitment to the industry is materialized with a national first-level Masterclass by Ion de Sosa and Laura Ferrés. We have significantly increased our in-person audience, in 38 sessions, and online throughout Spain, thanks to our programming of 14 feature films, 3 of Balearic production, on Filmin, with more presence in the media, with international reports and a notable increase in impacts compared to the 2023 edition. We will continue to believe in committed auteur cinema, with necessary visions, that can move in substance and form outside the norms of commercial cinema, with total creative freedom.
