In 2016 we screened over 50 films from 10 countries which were selected out of nearly 400 submissions from 40 countries. FILM SCORE celebrates the musical heart and soul of film and the composers and artists that make films sing. The 2017 Film Score and Scruffy City Film & Music Festival will have events every Saturday in July culminating in four days of film screenings from July 27-30.

All films submitted to the festival must have a standout soundtrack, score, sound design, or musical narrative to be considered. Each year one outstanding feature film with the Best Score or Soundtrack will be chosen to headline the festival. Also, awards are given for Best Score, Best Music Video, and Best Soundtrack.

2017 winning films will be screened by sales agents for a chance to receive representation and potential distribution. Winning feature films will be awarded two complimentary passes to FILM-COM, the only market in the world with a primary emphasis on works in the packaging phase that need completion financing, co-production partners or distribution interest to launch projects. The recipient of the Best Tennessee Music Video Award will win a free screening party at Scruffy City Hall with a complimentary keg of beer. The winner of The Best Cinematographer Award will receive a Zacuto DSLR Z-Finder.

All winning short films will be invited to screen in Toronto in a special co-production with Shorts that are Not Pants. All official selections will be invited to screen at the inaugural Fan Boy Film Festival in October at the Knoxville Convention Center.

All official selections will receive two Filmmaker Passes and attending filmmakers will receive our world famous VIP Gift Bag. Select films will receive complimentary accommodations for visiting filmmakers. Every year several films are reviewed and promoted by the regional media.

If your project has a standout score or soundtrack or you have a stellar music video, please submit your film today!

- Our film jury consists of festival programmers and directors, award winning filmmakers, sales reps, and music composers.

What a fun and friendly festival! Michael Samstag and his team were so welcoming and helpful with everything from coordinating lodging, inviting us to be on panels, and creating a fun atmosphere during our time there. We also got to see a lot of strong films that have stayed with me. Thank you, Scruffy City!

Big Up to Michael Samstag for putting on an amazing festival. We saw great films, met talented people and heard great music. The festival is a hit from programming to atmosphere. So proud Selling Rosario was included in the line up with so many great films. Thanks to programmers, jury and audience.
