Discover.film is changing the world of entertainment by taking the exciting genre of short film mainstream. We are looking for the very best short films that are entertaining and tell a story. The sort of short films that people want to watch. That make them laugh. Or cry. That shock and surprise.

Whilst we are the fastest growing film festival in the world (398 entries in our first edition, 752 in second, over 1,000 in third and 1,500+ in fourth), we pride ourselves on being friendly and welcoming to all filmmakers who attend from the 40+ countries who enter the festival. This is reflected in our ranking in the top 100 film festivals on FilmFreeway (out of over 5,000 festivals) and reviews by filmmakers.

Spread over 5 days, The Discover Film Awards involve public cinema screenings at cinemas across London including the art deco Phoenix Cinema, the oldest cinema in the UK (built in 1912) whose patrons include Mike Leigh, Ken Loach, Michael Palin and Mark Kermode.

As well as screenings, the festival includes discussions at universities, networking events, a filmmaker supper, breakfast events and a closing party and awards event held at Stephen's House and Gardens that brings together investors, distributors, film producers and media professionals.

Sponsors of the awards include Apple, Crow TV, Envy Post Production, kit hire companies, aerial filming companies, Kobalt Music and First News Media.

Selected films get the option of UK cinema distribution.

Was a brilliant festival, everyone involved was very nice an welcoming, and everyone seemed to really care about your film and that you were happy with the screening. Also a Lovely venue to watch your films in, a beautiful cinema with great sound. Will definitely submit again.

We had a fantastic experience at the Discover Film Awards. The organisers gave us such a warm, supportive welcome and encouraged filmmakers to connect at the after-screening events. Seeing our work at the Phoenix Cinema as part of a collection of handpicked shorts was a great buzz and the screenings were well attended. We were thrilled to receive the award for Best British Drama and also Best Actor for Jane Marlow's performance.

I entered this festival with my latest project 'ELI' after being selected and winning at their first film festival. What a difference two years makes, the festival has grown bigger and better in such a short period of time. A great weekend topped off with 'ELI' winning the Audience Award.

It was a pleasure to have my film screen at the Discover Film Festival. Everyone involved were a pleasure to talk to, and quick to reply to any questions. The event itself played out smoothly, and a great way to discover some excellent shorts.
