Drone film is seen as a unique form of capturing the world above, allowing the mind to see what would be impossible by presenting a whole new vision of cinematography. Drone Film Festival ANZ was created to showcase drone films, footage, stories and documentaries by film makers, production companies and everyday drone hobby enthusiasts.

Today we use drones in a form of art meets film and everything in between, they have come a long way in technology advancement, usage, access and availability has opened the skies to creative minds from around the globe.

2017 will see DFFANZ screen across 11 major cities in Australia + New Zealand, working with DIFF in officially launching our program at this years Darwin International Film Festival during September, kicking off the tour across Australia and New Zealand in October.

Film Duration – 00:00 to 15:00 minutes in length

Subtitles – Are welcome, non-English speaking films must include English subtitles

Film Submissions – Must incorporate overall 50% Drone, Drone Film, Drone Footage, Aerial

Film Category – International, Australian, New Zealand, Narrative, Experimental, Animation, Feature, Documentary, TV Commercial, Story Telling, Alternative, Experimental, Brand or Label Product Short Film

Film Selection – Films are reviewed 7 days of application received, you will be notified via FilmFreeWay if successful

Screening – Official Selection Films successful, will be screened at DFFANZ17, across Darwin, Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Canberra, Perth, Hobart, Adelaide, Brisbane, Auckland, Christchurch and Wellington

Terms, Conditions & Rules

The Drone Film Festival Australia & New Zealand PTY LYD reserves the right, we have under this Agreement.

You are solely responsible and liable for the content you submit, made under your details within your registration.

You agree you will not submit any content that is defamatory, obscene, pornographic, racially, culturally, or ethnically offensive, harassing, intimidating, threatening, hateful, discriminatory or abusive.

To be considered for the DFFANZ, your content must meet all the specifications and requirements relating to film categories, formatting and submission.

By entering the Drone Film Festival ANZ, you agree that the festival may use your publicity stills prior to the festival for marketing, promotional activities and publicity purposes. We may also screen your film for judging, media review purposes or for exhibition, launch, after parties, partner events in association with DFFANZ. We will always contact you (or a nominated filmmaker) to inform you of this prior to use.

Consent of parent or guardian must be obtained where a minor may be a participant in the film festival or competition. If the winner of a prize is under the age of 18 years, the prize will be awarded to the winner's nominated parents or guardian.

By entering DFFANZ, you are confirming that you hold all appropriate rights, by entering, you release DFFANZ from any claim and all responsibilities relating to or arising from its use of the film. If you do not exclusively own all of these rights, you must have all necessary authorisations, permissions, approvals, consents, rights and licenses from the owner(s) to enter into this agreement, perform and comply with all of its obligations.

Drone Film Festival ANZ, does not claim any ownership rights to the content and films, the intellectual property and proprietary rights existing anywhere in the world and DFFANZ acquire no ownership, proprietary or other rights to your work and or film.

By submitting your film, it does not guarantee acceptance and selection of the work into the Drone Film Festival ANZ. You agree that you are aware that all films received will be reviewed by jury and judged, and that some films may not be selected for cinema screening as official selection of DFFANZ 2017. You accept this risk.

Any prizes awarded are not transferable, exchangeable or redeemable for cash. DFFANZ will arrange prizes to the winning film makers post film festival announcement.

This agreement is made in the state of New South Wales, Australia, it is governed by jurisdiction of the courts within Australia and New Zealand.
