INDIZIONE
L’Associazione Le Ali di Icaro, ente culturale e di promozione sociale con sede nel Valdarno aretino, organizza a Terranuova Bracciolini (AR), presso l’Auditorium “Le Fornaci” (Via Vittorio Veneto 19) il Wag Film Festival, giunto all’ottava edizione dopo un lungo stop causato dalla pandemia Covid-19. Il periodo di svolgimento sarà a Primavera 2023; le date ufficiali verranno comunicate dall’organizzazione con revisione del presente regolamento.
TEMA
Quest’anno il tema delle serate di proiezione sarà “Il valore delle piccole cose”. Durante questi ultimi anni difficili per il nostro paese, l’umanità si è scoperta vulnerabile e, di conseguenza, più sensibile. Per questo motivo, la riscoperta delle “piccole cose”, intese come i valori più semplici che caratterizzano l’esistenza di ognuno di noi, assume un carattere assolutamente predominante, come se le difficoltà che abbiamo dovuto affrontare ne avessero “catalizzato” il significato più profondo. Ogni regista avrà quindi la possibilità di raccontare le proprie personali “piccole cose”, fatte di storie, personaggi, ambienti, vicende che facciano della semplicità e della naturalezza il proprio punto di forza cinematografico.
La Giuria dell’ottava edizione sarà costituita grazie alla collaborazione con festival, scuole ed associazioni cinematografiche che rappresentano, da anni, fedeli partner del Wag; si tratterà dunque di un gruppo specializzato che verrà selezionato dall’organizzazione e che sarà costituito da studenti di Cinema, critici ed operatori del settore, con una particolare attenzione ai giovani che da sempre rappresentano l’asse portante dell’Associazione “Le Ali di Icaro”.
SEZIONI DEL CONCORSO:
Il concorso si articola in tre categorie:
● Sguardi d'Autore: sezione dedicata a opere che siano in grado di rappresentare “il valore delle piccole cose”, ovvero opere che facciano delle semplicità l’elemento determinante della narrazione (durata max 30 minuti, nessun limite di età per gli autori partecipanti).
● Nuove Prospettive: sezione a tema libero riservata a registi di età inferiore ai 30 (trenta) anni (durata max 30 minuti);
● Wag International: sezione dedicata a registi non italiani e a opere prodotte all’estero (durata max 30 minuti).
Ciascuna opera può essere iscritta ad una sola sezione del concorso.
Gli autori di età inferiore ai 30 anni possono scegliere liberamente di partecipare alla sezione Sguardi d’Autore o alla sezione Nuove Prospettive, sulla base della tematica affrontata dall’opera in concorso.
Relativamente alla categoria Sguardi d’Autore, è preferibile l’invio, contestualmente all’opera presentata, di una breve sinossi/descrizione dell’opera che giustifichi la pertinenza con il tema oggetto della manifestazione.
La scelta della sezione cui iscrivere l’opera è responsabilità dell’autore della stessa; è consentito l’invio di più opere per singolo autore.
Nella programmazione del Festival sarà inclusa anche WagMovie, sezione non competitiva riservata a opere prodotte e realizzate dall’Associazione Le Ali di Icaro che organizza l’evento.
Alle proiezioni si alterneranno attività ed eventi collaterali, costituiti da mostre artistico/fotografiche e prestazioni teatrali, racchiusi nella categoria Altre Realtà. ANNOUNCEMENT
The Association Le Ali di Icaro, cultural association for social promotion, with seat in the Lower Valdarno area, organizes the Wag Film Festival, to be held in Terranuova Bracciolini (AR), at the Auditorium “Le Fornaci” (Via Vittorio Veneto 19), in its eighth edition after the long stop due to the Covid-19 pandemic. The Festival will take place in Spring 2023; official dates will be published with a revision of the present regulations.
THEME
This year the theme of the projected works shall be “The Value of Small Things”. During the last years mankind found itself vulnerable and accordingly more sensible. For the above reasons rediscovering small things, to be understood as the simplest values that make sense to everyone’s existence, gains an overwhelming value, as if the past difficulties had brought out their deepest meaning. Every director will therefore have the opportunity of showing one’s own personal “small things”, made up of stories, characters, places, facts that can make its cinema focus, out of simplicity and natural facts.
The Jury of this eighth edition will be constituted in cooperation with the long lasting partners of former WAG Festivals, with schools and cinema associations; it will be therefore a highly specialized group, to be selected by the organization and that will include cinema students, reviewers, cinema specialists, with a particular attention to the young generations, one of the main interests of the Association “Le Ali di Icaro”.
CONTEST SECTIONS
The contest is divided into three categories:
● Sguardi d’Autore (Author Looks): this section is dedicated to works that can present the “value of small things”, that is works to make simplicity become the main focus (max. duration 30 minutes, no age limit for participants);
● Nuove Prospettive (New Perspectives): this section has no fixed theme and is thought for directors up to 30 (thirty) years of age (max. duration 30 minutes);
● Wag International: this section is dedicated to non-Italian directors and to works produced abroad (max. duration 30 minutes).
Every work can participate to one contest section only.
Authors under 30 years of age can freely choose to take part to the section Author Looks or to the section New Perspectives, based on the theme of the work in contest.
Regarding the section Author Looks, it is advisable to send, along with the presented work, a short description or summary of the same, in order to explain the pertinence of the work with the festival theme.
Authors are responsible for the choice of the section where to enter their work; authors are allowed to send more than one work.
The Festival program will also include WagMovie, a non-competitive section for works made by the Association “Le Ali di Icaro”, that organizes the Festival.
Along with the works projections other events will take place, such as photo shows and theatrical performances, forming the category Altre Realtà (Other Realities). The complete events list for the Wag Film Festival will be published on the official festival website www.lealidicaro.org/wagfilmfestival , as well as on its social networks pages (Facebook, Instagram).
PREMI E FINI ISTITUZIONALI DELLA GIURIA
La Giuria, il cui giudizio è insindacabile, assegnerà i seguenti premi:
● PREMIO WAG alla Miglior opera della categoria “Sguardi d’Autore”;
● PREMIO NUOVE PROSPETTIVE alla Miglior opera dell’omonima categoria;
● PREMIO WAG INTERNATIONAL alla Miglior opera dell’omonima categoria.
● PREMIO MIGLIOR INTERPRETAZIONE ATTORIALE al Miglior attore/attrice di tutti i film in concorso.
La Giuria si riserva in diritto di conferire eventuali menzioni speciali a opere che possono contraddistinguersi per specifici aspetti tecnici (regia, fotografia, colonna sonora, montaggio).
I premi consistono in trofei, coppe, allori ufficiali e targhe con astuccio riportanti il nome dell’opera e la tipologia di riconoscimento ottenuta. Ciascun vincitore riceverà inoltre copia della motivazione del premio assegnato redatta dalla Giuria.

PRIZES AND INSTITUTIONAL PURPOSES OF THE JURY
The Jury, whose judgment is unquestionable, will assign following prizes:
● WAG PRIZE to the best work from the category “Sguardi d’Autore”;
● NUOVE PROSPETTIVE PRIZE to the best work from the said category;
● WAG INTERNATIONAL PRIZE to the best work from the said category;
● BEST ACTOR INTERPRETATION PRIZE to the best actress/actor of all films in contest.
The Jury reserves the right to award with special mentions works that stand out for specifical technical aspects (direction, photography, soundtrack, editing).
Prizes consist in trophies, cups, official laurels and plates that will report the work title and the awarded prize type. Each winner will also receive a copy of the reasons of the prize with the description reported by the Jury.
