The Toronto Film Week is an annual event showcasing independent films with an edge.

The Toronto Film Week will run during, but independent from the Toronto International Film Festival.
The event was created by independent filmmakers, for independent filmmakers, with the sole purpose to showcase and screen new and upcoming talent.

The TFW focuses on the unconventional, the unusual, the underground, the intuitive, the innovative, the minimalistic and the true artists of our time. Based in Toronto (Canada) the festival aims to screen douzens of feature and short films.

All screenings will take place at
(The) Fox Theatre, 2234 Queen St E in Toronto.

The Toronto Film Week is a true arthouse festival in every sense. Aiming to inspire, motivate and award new talent.

During our first year we were only able to screen the award winning films. For the upcoming edition we've secured more screening time which will allow us to screen all selected films.

A film I produced was selected but only winners were screened. I am proud to have been selected, but the festival is somewhat misleading. They indicated that only winners would be screened live, that the festival is divided in 2, an online component and live screening for winners. Essentially we were listed online (Yes) but that was it, there was no online screening or forum to watch films online.... Perhaps I read too much into the "online component"...

This festival like many others is just a money spinner with no feedback given or the courtesy of even sending a festival laurel. Very bad value

    Response from festival:

    Hi Sean,

Thank you for taking the time to review our event.
However, your comments aren't really accurate which makes me believe that our mails ended up in your spam folder.
We also mailed you about this review, but we didn't get any feedback from you.
You can check with FilmFreeway, at the time of the notification date all accepted filmmakers received an automatic mail through FilmFreeway informing them about the selection. In this mail we've also added links to the laurels and asked you several questions about your film (premiere status, etc.). We never received any reply from you.

    Sincerely,
    Toronto Film Week

I think it the submission fee is too high and there is only a public screening for the winners... I think that's not such a good deal.

    Response from festival:

Hi Stefanie, by selecting more films than we can screen we want to express our respect to and recognize those filmmakers that take risks by creating the more difficult type of cinema. In the end however we only have so much screening time available and we need to make terrible choices. Perhaps you don't need the recognition anymore, but most filmmakers do. Being a filmmaker myself I know that having your film screened is where it's all about, but when I have to choose between a rejection or a recognition, the decision is easy.
