Originally created by a collective of actors based in Toronto, Ontario, Canada called The Actor's Place (TAP), TAPFest was an opportunity for actors to push themselves forward and by creating original films that highlight their abilities as actors and filmmakers.

TAP is all about coming together to create something special and unique. Therefore each year our awards change to recognize the work and film from that year. Some awards you can expect are:

Outstanding Film
Outstanding Male Performance
Outstanding Female Performance
Outstanding Cinematography

and much much more.

IMPORTANT PLEASE READ:

As a [semi-]respected professional in the film biz..in all my years of festivals and artistic collectives, this is the first time I've seen a throng of talented artistes [as well as supporters], in one event, who are also close collaborative friends, that actually help each other shine in their individual cinematic projects..Organizer :Ivan & Co. had a 'sold out' huge theatrical theater, with a real big screen, which is the best way to see the works. TAP's mission is paying off..the huge TAP related 2016 audience responses were incredible [kudos, Cineplex]! I'd say dollar for dollar..& as far as respect from the mainstream community & Indie [as well as a hardened cynic, like mysef]...TAPfest is the best there is in Canada...period [& I ran my own festival, in the past!]. 100 years of filmmaking in Canada...and TAP was able to bring a bunch of narcissistic talrnt together, for a single event and impress the theatrical Big Boys [& Girls]. I see TAPFest going a long way in bringing influence & respect to our Industry, overall.
I hope Cineplex will start bringing back indie double and triple feature bookings [as well as a few shorts and cartoons, from similar local talent..], in the near future.
I think more room for these events are needed locally.....I don't believe 'Star Wars' , or 'Transformers'-like frachises need 3, or four theatres, per run, stifling local movie talent...just a thought. In any measure, though...it's a great start, CINEPLEX(:

A film festival run by actors and an acting group that I am fortunate to be part of. The films are raw and visceral, and reflect the primal urge of actors and creators to tell compelling stories.
