Spanky Crank Media Fest is a Media Awards Festival for Film, Video, Music, and Media Makers from around the World.

In 1973, festival founders Ivan Bow Spank and Christoph Crank were two of nine men to survive a nautical accident off the coast of Nova Scotia. Immediately after being rescued both men decided to resign their seamen posts and become Hollywood screenwriters...

As it turns out however, Ivan and Christoph were terrible screenwriters and quickly found themselves out of work. Regardless, the two men refused to give up and decided to pioneer a media festival in the basement of Grappa's wine bar on the outskirts of Burbank, CA.

For the next five years, Ivan and Christoph curated an annual media festival in the poorly lit dive until the bar closed in 1980 after which the two men parted ways over creative differences, never to speak to one another again...

In 1999, Ivan Spank was hit by a truck while walking home one night. When Christoph heard word of Ivan's untimely death, he became greatly sadden and often spoke of restarting the media festival.

In 2013, Christoph Crank died of congenital heart failure. Upon reading his last will and testament it was discovered that Crank left half of his meager life's savings to the task of renewing his old media festival under the name "Spanky Crank"

And so, Spanky Crank Media Festival came to be...
