From Austin to Charlotte and Miami to Baton Rouge, SSIFFF is an International film festival that also celebrates the creative talent from ten southern states. We are dedicated to REAL INDIE FILMMAKERS - not the big studio spinoffs calling themselves as such. FanFilmFest is held in Biloxi, Mississippi, a historic coastal town 90 minutes from New Orleans, and will be hosted by Los Angeles actress and filmmaker Tiffany Phillips (upper middle photo)!

Although FILMS WILL BE ACCEPTED FROM AROUND THE WORLD additional Local categories are open for submissions from the following ten Southern States: Texas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, Florida, Georgia, North and South Carolina, Tennessee, and Arkansas. Affordable subcategories are also available for students simply by submitting at student rates.

SSIFFF celebrates the diversity of Americans along our beautiful southern coast - the longstanding Spanish traditions of Texas and Florida, French Creole and Cajun cultures of the former vast Louisiana territory, and the continually evolving cultures of southern blacks and whites. The Southern States are as gloriously diverse as any region on Earth. So in addition to our general call for submissions, we are issuing a call for films with innovative, progressive and balanced stories from and concerning women, peoples of Latin, African, Asian and Middle Eastern descent, Native Americans, LGBTQ community, Seniors and Spanish Language films.

SSIFFF 2017 will be held Jan. 2-5, 2018 at Biloxi's Palace Casino Resort, the area's only smoke-free casino. It boasts fantastic film viewing rooms, very reasonably priced hotel rooms (use group event code 812), a golf course, pool, spa, numerous restaurants and bars, and close proximity to the Hard Rock and other Biloxi entertainment venues.

ALL FILMMAKERS will receive a VIP pass for FREE ADMISSION to all 3 days of screenings, the panels, and workshops - your personal guests included!

SSIFFF's RED CARPET AWARDS CEREMONY on Friday night will be will be a night to remember - a four course meal with wine, film clips, photos ops, and awards throughout the evening. You won't want to miss it! Tickets for this event will be available when selected films and nominations are announced approximately 30 days prior to the festival.

We are incredibly excited to meet you and review your creative gem. We understand how precious each film is to its creators and will work with you and the growing Southern States Film Community to cultivate your craft in the coming months and years. OUR PROMISE - to diligently endeavor to empower INDEPENDENT filmmakers and celebrate film creativity and DIVERSITY in the Southern States and around the world!

Rules & Terms

All entries and submissions to Southern States Indie FanFilmFest MUST be made through FilmFreeway. See categories for specific lengths. Films not in English must be subtitled.

A variety of categories allows for more individual winners, however do not feel the need to submit to numerous categories. Submit to the narrowest category for your film project. For example, if you live in one of the ten Southern States and you have a Mid Length Film, submit to the Southern States Mid Length Film category rather than the general Mid Legnth Film category. Your film will then be judged in a smaller category while still eligible for top festival awards.

Unlike many festivals that require you to pay submission fees for several categories to be considered for various awards (like Director, Actor, Cinematography, etc.), we have only added three for MUSICAL SCORE and one for TRAILERS. Film scoring and the construction of a powerful trailer are sometimes overlooked but are critical aspects of any film's success. Each requires it's own discipline. Filmmakers whose film may not be selected on the merits of the entire project may qualify for festival selection based on these components of their work. If your film score, a particular song in the movie, or your trailer are stellar, by all means submit them! We have kept these submission fees lower.

If your film is selected in only a MUSIC category - Soundtrack (Short or Feature), Original Song with Lyrics, Original Song Instrumental - it will still be regarded as an Official Selection. However, we reserve the right to screen it in part if necessary. There will be five winners in the TRAILER category. Each will be regarded as a Winner and will be screened.

By submitting your film you have read and agreed to all SSIFFF submission rules and these terms and conditions. If you have any further questions, please contact us via the email link.

Password protect the online viewer to guard against this issue.

6. WORKS IN PROGRESS are accepted but PLEASE READ: While you may submit the final edit up until the extended deadline, your original submission should be a fair representation of your final piece as our judges will be making their decisions based on it. Please include information as to what still needs to be completed (color correction, score, etc.) in your film file or in your cover letter. If the film is substantially changed please re-submit the following year.

7. All works selected must be available by December 1, 2017 for inclusion in the festival and downloadable by us.
